Key Responsibilities:
Educational Leadership:
· Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Family Medicine Residency Program.
· Provide direct supervision and teaching to residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
· Lead assigned didactic sessions, case discussions, and workshops.
· Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor to assigned residents, providing guidance on academic progress, professional development, and wellness.
· Assist in the evaluation of resident performance using ACGME milestones and competency-based assessments.
Clinical Responsibilities
· Provide high-quality patient care within the Family Medicine teaching clinic and affiliated hospital settings.
· Supervise resident physicians during clinical encounters, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and professional standards.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• In addition to classroom instruction, provides individual mentoring and support to students based on assessment of their improvement areas and the student's stated needs.
• Works with student's strengths, learning styles, and areas requiring further development, and to develop and implement remediation plans as needed.
• Evaluates student learning and knowledge based on quiz/examination results, interactions in the classroom and on an individual basis.
• Is instrumental in identifying individual and collective learning needs of assigned students, being cognizant of the physical, mental and emotional status of the learners.
• Discusses with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to their learning experience.
• Understands each student's challenge areas (e.g. “text anxiety”, content weaknesses) and assists students with recommended techniques to overcome these obstacles.
• Tracks and documents student progress and issues, planned exam date and test results. Keeps Program Director updated on a regular basis.

The Radiologic Technology Instructor is primarily responsible for providing quality didactic instruction to students. Department of Mathematics and Statistics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics comprises approximately 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty members across four disciplinary groups (pure, applied mathematics, applied statistics, mathematics education) who take pride in teaching at a university that ranks near the top for number of bachelor's degrees awarded to minorities. We are actively involved with community outreach through our training and placement of future teachers, coaching teams of high-schoolers for mathematics contest ARML, organizing our very own Data Day and Math Day at the Beach for high-schoolers, and other activities. These events are committed to promoting equity and inclusion by providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their background. We aim to break down barriers and ensure that every student has equal access to engaging and enriching mathematics and statistics activities. Additionally, we have a Data Science Learning Community in Long Beach whose purpose is to empower racially-minoritized students and communities through robust community engagement, mentoring and research experiences for underrepresented high school, community college, and university students, and professional development of educators.
Department faculty members work closely, productively, and collegially with departmental colleagues on innovative curriculum development, research, and advising. Faculty teach mathematics, statistics, and math education courses for undergraduate majors, graduate students, and broader audiences. Position Details:
The Communication Studies Department in the College of Arts and Letters at Cal State LA, is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2025-2026 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.
Part-time faculty lecturers are hired with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool of applicants are made when there are instructional needs to fill coursework offered by an academic department based on changing enrollment patterns, changes to tenure-track faculty assignments, and other factors that cannot be addressed with existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester so some faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate must have an appropriate degree from an accredited university (for upper division undergraduate courses-master's degree; for graduate courses-doctoral degree, or master's degree and substantial teaching experience). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level.
Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and training.
Appropriate doctoral or terminal degree.
Duties:
Duties of part-time faculty lecturers include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
Instruction includes teaching any courses in the BA and MA.

The Department/Division School:
The BA in Communication Studies is available in four options which provide students opportunities to specialize in theory, research, and practice of human communication in specific hubs and contexts. Each option, Health Communication, Mass Communication, Organizational Communication and Social Justice Communication, covers a cluster of the subfields of the discipline represented in the major U.S. and international associations of communication scholarship.
The MA in Communication Studies provides graduate students the opportunity to engage in an array of communication subfields including Rhetorical, Instructional, Organizational, Strategic, Interpersonal, Digital, Mass, Health, and Intercultural Communication. The faculty's diverse research expertise provides graduate students access to a generalist program of study designed to be tailored to suit students' particular needs.
The Department offers the first prison-based Communication BA completion program in the country, at California State Prison, Lancaster (LAC). The BA at LAC offers the Organizational Communication option. APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month

They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization. Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in communications or a relevant discipline by the start of appointment
Minimum two years of professional experience in advertising
Ability to teach a broad range of advertising courses, including a combination of principles, writing, creative strategy, account planning, and campaign courses
Ability to interact effectively both orally and in writing with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues
A well-articulated research and/or creative agenda in advertising and/or digital media
