1803

By 1803, however, Flavel had moved the foundry to Leamington Spa, where the company began to specialize in the production of cast-iron stoves.

1833

Flavel was later joined by son William, and by 1833, the company had established the Eagle Foundry, described as one of the world's largest at the time.

1835

John Flavel opens a foundry in Leamington, which later specializes in cast iron cookers, launching the "Kitchener" in 1835.

1851

In 1851 the Kitchener was exhibited at the Great Exhibition in Crystal Palace where British manufacturing of the era was celebrated.

The Kitchener quickly became a British institution, and Flavel's company earned a number of accolades, including a coveted gold medal at the 1851 Exhibition.

1912

Sweden's Nils Gustaf Dalen, who had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1912, had been blinded in an accident that same year.

1922

The AGA cooker was invented in 1922 by physicist Dr Gustaf Dalén, shown at the bottom left of the infographic.

Dalen patented his invention in 1922, and launched a new company, called the Svenska Aktiebolaget Gas Accumulator.

1929

Introduced to the UK in 1929, Dalén’s AGA cooker quickly became a centrepiece to many kitchens.

1931

In 1931, only 322 cookers were sold worldwide, but this rose to 1,705 only 12 months later.

1935

The Aga's true success came when David Ogilvy, then an Aga salesman in Scotland, published The Theory and Practice of Selling an Aga Cooker in 1935.

1936

The company launched the New Standard Aga in 1936.

1941

In 1941, however, the company replaced all of its existing Aga models with a new series of models using standardized parts, called the Aga Standard.

1960

Going into the 1960's, Oil was introduced and was very well received as a more efficient alternative to solid fuel

1968

Firstly came the oil-fired Aga range cooker, with the gas cooker following hot on its heels in 1968.

1981

In 1981, for example, the company acquired Dura-pipe, which, together with another company holding, Vulcathene, launched Glynwed's industrial pipes division.

1995

Cookers unlike with any other manufacturer of the time, were produced in various colours.They produced the first dual fuel cooker and in 1995 the first double oven range was produced the Rangemaster 110.

2002

The United States played host to two more Aga purchases in 2002.

2004

Until 2004, the Aga brand represented the high point of the company's line of cooker brands, with the price of its cookers ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.

2009

One of the characteristics of an AGA cooker is their longevity – in 2009 a contest was held to find the oldest AGA still in use.

2017

The cooker was manufactured here until 2017.
