AidData company history timeline

2009

AidData was formed in 2009 as a partnership between Brigham Young University (BYU), the College of William and Mary, and Development Gateway.

2011

Data obtained from the Aid Information Management System (AIMS) is first geocoded and then undergoes a rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) process to ensure accurate project location information, logical dates, consistent transaction information, and deflation to 2011.

2012

The 2.1 release is a snapshot from February 2012.

Users should also be careful when aggregating project-level financial amounts to include only one flow type to avoid double counting. For example, 2012 data can include disbursements of projects originating in 2012 or any prior year.

2016

In 2016, the members of the AidData partnership came to an agreement that AidData would function moving forward as a stand-alone development research and innovation lab at the College of William and Mary.
