1992

Sales were $7 million in 1992.

1993

Zummo had in 1993 bought Valentec International Corp. from Insilco Corp., a Big Board-listed United States defense contractor based in Meriden, Connecticut, that had acquired Valentec eight years earlier.

1994

Safety Components International, Inc. (SCI) was formed on January 12, 1994, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Valentec International Corporation, a contractor for the defense, aerospace, and automotive industries.

For an 11-month fiscal year ended March 31, 1994, they were up to $22.4 million.

The company completed an initial public offering on the NASDAQ (ticker: ABAG) in May 1994.

1995

Sales reached $51.8 million in 1995, with net income of $2.1 million.

A research and development center was set up there in 1995.

A joint venture was established in China in 1995 but was ended after four years.

1996

Building its low cost manufacturing capacity, in April 1996 the company began work on a 100,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic.

In 1996 the company established its own direct sales force.

1997

Valentec Systems, picked up in the 1997 purchase of Valentec International, had been SCI's only non-automotive unit.

2000

SCI's common stock was delisted from the NASDAQ in February 2000.

2001

In November 2001, Safety Components, through its U.K. subsidiary Automotive Safety Components International Limited, acquired Woodville Airbag Engineering from Smiths Group plc subsidiary TISPP UK Limited in November 2001.

2002

Galion, Inc., an Ohio-based defense business, was sold to an affiliate of The Diversified Group Incorporated in December 2002 for $454,000.

2003

Name Change: October, 2003 Reason for name change – Laser Components GmbH wanted a USA based division that they owned 100%, so they took away the name.

2009

In 2009, the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. paid Avant Technology up to $700,000 in incentives to move from Austin to Pflugerville.

2013

Facilities: May 2013, EOC moved into a company owned office from leased space.

2020

For the seventh consecutive year, Plastic Components, Inc. has been named as one of Plastics News’ Best Places to Work 2020
