When it opened in 2006, there were just eight students in kindergarten through third grade.
Ambleside was launched in fall 2006 with eight students in leased space at United Methodist Church.
In 2009, Ambleside — after Grace Christian School had completely moved to its newly constructed facility off County Road 475 south of Ocala — began leasing Grace’s old Broadway Street property downtown.
Lani Whitley has worked at Ambleside since it opened in 2010.
Candice Whitley joined Ambleside in 2012 and has taught many classes and served as Assistant Principal.
Their growing family moved to Wadsworth, Ohio in the summer of 2013, close to Faith’s family, where he worked at a vocational High School for two years while he and Faith lead the young adult ministry at their church.
Heidi Kimball joined Ambleside in 2014.
Matthew Perkins joined Ambleside in 2015 and has taught 6th and 3rd grades and serves as an Assistant Principal.
Andrew Hayes re-joined Ambleside Colorado as Principal in 2016 after serving for two years as Principal at Ambleside Boerne (Texas). Previously he spent three years as a Junior High teacher at Ambleside Colorado.
Formerly a K-8 school, Ambleside officials added ninth grade in 2018-19 and 10th grade this school year.
By adding the new, yet old, high school building, Principal Jill Romine, who is Seth’s mother, said Ambleside will be able to reach its maximum high school enrollment of 64 sometime in 2021-22.
Seth Romine, a sophomore who will be among a handful of students who will have spent all K-12 grades at Ambleside when he graduates in 2022, said the new digs helps him better focus.
