1893

The amazing feats of those that dared to create magic on the midways have its roots in the extraordinary splendor of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.

The World’s Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the New World in 1492.

The 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago captured the imaginations of people throughout the country and the world and paved the way for American traveling carnivals.

1902

In 1902 there were seventeen traveling carnivals in the United States.

1936

Wynne broke new ground when he opened the first Six Flags park, Six Flags Over Texas, in 1961.

1976

Most notably, he is the author of "The Great American Amusement Parks," the first pictorial history on the subject, released in 1976.

1978

1979

In 1979, he wrote and co-produced "America Screams," the first television documentary on amusement parks, starring Vincent Price.
