REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education/Experience

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for Product Life Cycle responsibility supporting large, complex, and growing portfolios within the Knoxville, Iowa facility. Primary objectives will be to deliver results in Growth, Service, Quality, Cost, and Engagement.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Supporting the development and scale up of key business NPI programs, enabling the launch of new products to drive growth within the site
Identify and champion the execution of high impact value stream improvement opportunities to deliver on critical business capacity, yield, productivity, and customer quality improvement initiatives
Leading cross-functional teams, and proactively communicating project direction and status to appropriate stakeholders
Monitor and improve manufacturing operations using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology (design of experiments, statistical process control, lean management system, kaizens, DMAIC)
Performing capability assessments and cost estimates for new opportunities
Ownership of identifying and monitoring specifications, test methods, and product standards in support of customer needs and product performance requirements
Support site Quality Management Systems (ISO/IATF) including Change Management (MOC/CMP), customer complaint resolution, CAPA execution, and representing 3M Knoxville during internal and external customer and audits interactions
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited university
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience in leading multi-functional teams through complex projects from planning to completion
Experience in supporting new product development and commercialization.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
Experience in lean manufacturing or Aerospace Industry
Self-starter/self-directed that leads with high energy and passion
