Arizona Autism Charter School is seeking dedicated team members to support the growth and development of students on the autism spectrum. Staff work at one campus location, follow consistent schedules, and receive ongoing mentoring, support, and professional development with opportunities for career advancement.
Under the supervision of the Applied Behavior Analysis Co-Director, Behavior Specialists implement ABA strategies in the classroom to help students access the curriculum and meet IEP goals. This is a school-year position with optional summer opportunities.Candidates should have classroom experience and a strong understanding of ABA principles. Behavior Paraprofessional positions are available for applicants with less experience.
Duties:
Assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management, as well as instruction.
Work as part of a classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior plans.
Execute lessons as directed by the teacher or classroom lead. These may include supporting independent work, special projects, or teaching a lesson to a small group.
Assist with classroom planning and preparing materials with the classroom teacher.
Assist students in participating in classroom routines, transitions, and self-care tasks as necessary.
Implement behavior intervention techniques in alignment with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as directed by the ABA Manager or Campus Director.
Mentor and train Paraprofessionals on best practices.
Follow tier-one behavioral supports and behavior plans as directed.
Able to obtain and maintain QBS certification.
Strong adherence to policies as outlined in the AZACS Employee Handbook.
Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
Work with special education students may include lifting, feeding, changing, toileting, and other services.
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience in a classroom setting.
Must have an understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with autism and other behavioral issues.
A strong foundation in applied behavior analysis is preferred.
Has good communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with parents and education professionals.
Has a basic understanding of instructional methods and education curriculum.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to handle emotionally charged situations.
Has the ability to train other people to apply behavior management techniques effectively.
Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
A valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card is required
First aid/CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire

POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Behavior Technician will have the opportunity to practice under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBA. The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services. The RBT does not design intervention or assessment plans. It is the responsibility of the RBT supervisor to determine which tasks an RBT may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Director of Exceptional Student Services and supervised directly by the district Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Behavior Technician will be part of a district behavior team.
Will meet and collaborate with the team on a regular basis to develop action steps to address students' behavioral needs district wide.
Under the direction of the BCBA, work with paraprofessionals one-on-one and in small groups to provide training as needed.
Assist the BCBA in conducting district in-services, training all relevant staff on the implementation of proactive behavioral strategies.
Observe student behavior in order to implement appropriate positive behavioral interventions.
Collect ABC data in collaboration with other staff to inform a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) (when necessary) and follow up with a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The RBT reports to the site administrator. The RBT will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

General Statement of Responsibilities: The Behavior Technician provides support to the classroom teacher and is responsible for providing academic and behavioral support to students by keeping students on-task and following the behavior plan established by the IEP team. Principal and Essential Functions
* Ensure students get from school transportation to the classroom and back in the afternoon.
* Assist teacher in implementing classroom management and social skill training, including one-on-one student assistance as needed
* Provide academic and behavioral support to students providing a positive reinforcement across all environments.
* Develop student's self-responsibility for behavior at school and at home.
* Maintain accurate reports on students and their behavioral needs to assess each student's improvement.
* Assist with developing lesson plans and activities to meet student's needs to teach academic skills such as reading comprehension, math, and spelling.
* Prepare charts and graphs as needed, complete and maintain data sheets daily.
* Periodically report teacher/student progress or concerns to the ED-P counselors.
* Work with staff members to enhance and ensure students are receiving quality educational support
* Maintains knowledge of individuals, their health/medical needs, and their service plans.
* Provides support as scheduled and as outlined in each Individual Education Plan and assists the individual in achieving their goals.
* Maintains an accurate record of services delivered for MIPS billing.
* Documents data and notes to adequately show individual's progress toward goals on IEP goals.
* Ensures that the certificated staff is informed of events impacting individuals receiving support and services.
* Completes a minimum of 45 hours of training every 3 years in continuing education related to children with developmental disabilities and challenging behavior.

SUMMARY: Assist the Special Education Teacher with the education, care and development of students with severe emotional disabilities and other significant disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides behavioral, instructional, vocational and developmental assistance to students who are disabled as prescribed by the supervising teacher or other certified professional.
Applies basic practices of effective behavioral management, and assists in the teaching of problem solving skills to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher, guidance counselor or administrator.
Assists with behavior management programs including monitoring and charting behaviors specific to individual behavior plans.
Provides assistance in the learning area in dealing with behavioral issues by applying crisis intervention to students with aggressive behavior and restraining violent students as needed.
Maintains all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Assists the teacher in implementing the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Serves as a floater to various learning areas to assist in maintaining appropriate behaviors; responds to all crisis calls, assesses the situation, and follows through accordingly.
Maintains accurate and complete records of student activities and behavior which may require the use of a computer terminal to enter student information and data; completes applicable forms, schedules and instructional reports as directed.
Assists in the preparation of lesson plans, behavior modification plans, and teacher's pre-planning sessions; provides input and assistance in the development of learning activities; prepares or assists in the preparation of instructional and vocational materials.
Attends district professional development classes.
Participates in the Medicaid reimbursement program which includes maintaining logs on students and attending scheduled training.
Assists students with activities of daily living, to including hygiene and toileting.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
AA degree OR 60 college credit hours OR successful completion of Dysart approved exam.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid CPR First Aid certification.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)

Arizona Autism Charter School is seeking dedicated team members to support the growth and development of students on the autism spectrum. Staff work at one campus location, follow consistent schedules, and receive ongoing mentoring, support, and professional development with opportunities for career advancement.
Under the supervision of the Applied Behavior Analysis Co-Director, Behavior Specialists implement ABA strategies in the classroom to help students access the curriculum and meet IEP goals. This is a school-year position with optional summer opportunities. Candidates should have classroom experience and a strong understanding of ABA principles. Behavior Paraprofessional positions are available for applicants with less experience.
Duties:
Assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management, as well as instruction.
Work as part of a classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior plans.

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
