Position Summary This actuarial leader is responsible for overseeing the development, validation, and delivery of key medical cost assumptions used in annual pricing and bid development for Individual Medicare Advantage. WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO Core Responsibilities Participates in large-scale department projects, including product development, modeling, regulatory compliance, and modernization initiatives. Provides clear, data-driven actuarial analyses and communicates insights effectively to cross-functional teams, ensuring timely and accurate support for decision-making across product, finance, and operations. May serve as a project lead on actuarial studies and product development initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned. Product Development & Modeling Support actuarial analyses to support pricing strategy, experience monitoring, and product performance evaluation. Contributes to the development and maintain of pricing models and methodologies for new and existing products. Analyze the results from experience studies and identify the trends to support pricing decisions. Identifies opportunities to automate processes and expand modeling capabilities and works with the team to implement these enhancements. Assists with periodic experience studies and annual assumption updates, including implementation and audit of changes within actuarial models. Ensures adherence to model risk management standards, including thorough documentation and testing. Maintains comprehensive documentation of actuarial analysis and ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control processes to support audit readiness. Financial Reporting & Compliance Compiles, consolidates, and analyzes actuarial data to produce financial reports in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). Maintains awareness of emerging issues impacting existing or new product lines and applies in-depth knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax reporting requirements to ensure compliance with current and evolving standards. Reviews and analyzes reserves and non-forfeiture values for new and existing products. Leadership & Collaboration Provides technical guidance to lower-level positions and other functional areas; may lead the work of others by mentoring, prioritizing, delegating, and reviewing assignments. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED [Qualifications; see examples below] Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline Minimum of 4 years of relevant Actuarial experience; preferably in life insurance Requires background in modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis; experience with GGY AXIS is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communications. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Near-Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), with maximum of 1 remaining requirement (in addition to the Associateship Professionalism Course) towards an Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM with occasional flexible and longer hours.
