JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Dental Supervisor RDA-Clinic Coordinator and the Dental Operation Manager is the patient's initial contact by phone or in person.
Essential Job Functions
* Assembling and confirming patient schedule, make appointment reminder calls.
* Perform clinic reception duties: greet and register patients, answer phones, screen calls, and take messages.
* Use the computerized Dentrix system and manual system to create and update patient records for bookkeeping, billing, and scheduling appointments.
* Prepare patient records and verify Member Services Department eligibility and/or medical clinic authorization.
* Undertakes all pre-authorization of treatment procedures with insurance or payors.
* Give patients estimates of treatment making sure to communicate in a clear, understandable, and respectful manner.
* With appropriate instruction, provide out-of-clinic referrals and follow-ups.
* Perform patient billing tasks that include timely electronic and manual processing of billable services, posting payments, reconciling or adjusting patient accounts, and transmissions of claims to insurances and third-party payors, etc.
* Responsible to receive payments and accurate and secure bookkeeping duties at the front desk. Ensure safekeeping and timely submission of cash collection to the Fiscal department.
* Perform administrative and clerical services like processing incoming/outgoing mail and inter-office communications and notices, fax and copying.
* Provide other support or assistance to other staff as requested, when appropriate, and if time allows, such as language interpretation, etc.
* Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among patients and staff.
* Implement and enforce clinic policies and procedures, including maintenance of patient confidentiality.
* Attend staff, department, and AHS general membership meetings.
* Assist in agency advocacy and outreach activities, serve on ad hoc committees, and attend AHS organizational events, as requested and when duties allow.
* Participates in agency-wide quality improvement program processes and performance improvement teams to ensure excellence in the quality of services provided across the agency.
Minimum Qualifications
* Must show proof of high school diploma
* Must be prepared to demonstrate these skills
* Must show a strong willingness to learn and be trained in the requirements of a dental clinic work environment
* Bilingual in English and Vietnamese
Preferred Qualifications
* Minimum of two years of work experience in dental office front desk duties that include insurance eligibility verification, treatment pre-authorization, and patient billing.
* Some training in dental or medical terminology, preferably some formal training in dental assisting.
$28.64 - $29.90 an hour

JOB SUMMARY:The Patient Services Representative (PSR) performs all the administrative services relating to the checking in and checking out of patients and provides general support services for the unit as described herein. Thus, the PSR plays a key role in creating and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients; ensuring efficient and expedient patient flow, and implementing providers' follow-up instructions with the patients. Greets and registers patients.
Follows up and carries out insurance verification and policy requirements, updates system information, verifies the financial status of patients and provides fee information.
Answers incoming phone calls. Responsible for responding to patient telephone calls for changing appointments and rescheduling patient appointments when a provider is out.
Collects and posts payments as needed.
Provides general information (e.g., client limits of insurance and payment responsibilities of the client for services) and assistance to all visitors in the waiting room.
Schedules appointments as needed; maintains the appointment reminder notification system for patients needing to be scheduled for follow-up appointments.
Rotates through various components (e.g. PEDS, Radiology/Allied Health, adults, lobby, and ARC).
Process referrals for patients, explain procedures, and inputs the referral into the electronic health records system.
Follow through with no-show patients per protocol.
Provides patient information to the nursing staff for medication refills.
Participates in orientation and training of new staff.
Reviews inbox daily and respond to tasks and PTAs in the electronic health records system.
Provides backup for other support services functions as needed.
Other duties that the supervisor might require.

High school diploma or GED required and two years' work-related experience in a clinic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience

JOB SUMMARY:
With supervision from the Senior Member Services Manager, learns to determines initial and continuing eligibility for health and social services by screening and interview patients to assess financial payer sources and status.
Note: This role is grant funded through December 2026.
Essential Job Function - Patient Eligibility
* Conducts patient financial screening to determine eligibility for County Medical Services Program (CMSP), Medicare, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and other payment sources.
* Assists patients in completing forms and applications for payment programs. Follows up on patients' pending status for payment programs.
* Assists patients in selecting a primary care provider and a health insurance plan, including PPO and HMO.
* Contacts health plan and insurance company to verify patients' insurance coverage and referral requirement; may assist in completing Medi-Cal applications and perform status follow-up with the county's Medi-cal worker.
* Answers inquiries and provides counseling regarding Medi-Cal and Medicare and their managed care systems, and other social service needs.
* Update patient financial information in the computer system and follow up on patients' pending status for a payment program,
* Answer incoming phone calls that are directed to the Member Services Department and make appointments for members.
* Assists the Member Services Manager in conducting member exit interviews and in processing monthly member rosters for all AHS' contracted managed care plans.
* Provide input to Member Services Manager in developing and maintaining eligibility criteria and procedures consistent with AHS goals and objectives.
* Provides advocacy for AHS patients/members due to government welfare reform and immigration policies.
* Conduct medical history intake interviews for all patients including new patients, newborn infants, and perinatal patients.
Other Duties
* Meets regularly with Member Services Manager to discuss patient eligibility problems and/or other issues affecting the department.
