Job Location: Worcester, MA Schedule: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm Job#: 18027 Onsite Soldering Test: Hand soldering---using a handheld soldering iron, understanding the purposes of the chemicals involved (flux, flux thinner, alcohol), using lead-free solder wire, stripping and tinning small gauge wire. Candidate will be given two different simple assemblies to complete, and will be evaluated on the following criteria: Knowledge and ability in soldering Ability to read and understand simple fabrication procedure documents. Ability to solder in a fast-paced production environment. The assessment is timed to 30 minutes (A typical, experienced solderer can complete the assessment in 5 minutes or less) JOB SUMMARY: An Electromechanical Assembler works as a member of the production line to solder and assemble various electromechanical parts. Escalate assemble issues to the production supervisor as needed. Perform repair work or rework as needed. Clean and maintain work area and equipment, including tools. Other duties as required. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Employees work under general supervision. Employees have little or no decision-making responsibility. The employee has little or no impact on the decisions of others. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to hand solder required and must pass the internal certification process. Dexterity to assemble small components required. Position does not require any previous experience working with office software. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: No formal educational credentials are required. Zero-1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting is helpful. Soldering experience or training preferred. Specialized training or certification required. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands/Efforts Prolonged periods of sitting at a workbench. Some moving of parts and from station to station and walking through the factory. Occasional physical exertion includes some lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to perform repetitive soldering and assembly tasks. Mental & Visual Demands/Efforts Considerable mental concentration to effectively execute complex tasks. Must be able to understand and follow fabrication procedures and wiring diagrams.
