Accountability:
The Precision Assembly Technician will have strong mechanical skills with an appreciation of electrical assembly, within the machine tool or similar manufacturing industry. In this role, you will play an essential part of a cross-functional team, collaborating with engineering and supply chain for the assembly and testing of complex high-precision machine tools, sub-assemblies and components.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.
Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Flexibility to travel as needed to customer sites to build, install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain for the entire lifecycle of the machine.
Operate both independently and collaboratively within a team to meet assembly objectives with minimal supervision.
Reviewing assembly instructions, part prints, layouts, and parts lists for precise assembly execution.
Gathering and preparing necessary parts, tools, and materials for assembly processes.
Follow detailed assembly instructions to assemble machines and components according to specified guidelines and geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Utilize precision metrology devices such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, artifacts, granites, for assembly.
Utilize hand tools and power tools, such as taps, reamers, files, and air/electric-powered tools.
Assemble a variety of machinery, including sophisticated systems and custom prototypes.
Perform machine assembly setups and verifying order specifications through rigorous inspections and measurements.
Identify and track build issues and work with cross-functional teams for improvements and resolution.
Testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting assemblies to guarantee optimal functionality and performance.
Participate in and provide feedback during the design review process.
Assist in the training and development of less experienced team members to enhance overall team expertise.
Complete all required documentation and paperwork for each assembly operation.
Support additional tasks such as loading/unloading heavy components, machine dismantling, and field installations as required.
Collaborate with fellow team members to suggest improvements and optimize assembly processes.
Proactively report any equipment, material, or assembly concerns to management for immediate resolution.
Education/Certification:
Associates or technical degree from an accredited technical or trade school, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Previous manufacturing experience.
Proven experience as an Assembly Technician in the machine tool industry, diesel mechanics, aerospace maintenance or a related clean environment field.
Strong mechanical skills with appreciation of electrical assembly; the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Proficient in using various metrology devices, hand and power tools relevant to assembly tasks.

The Heavy Mechanical Assembler will work at the Erlanger, KY service center to assemble and disassemble boilers and other large scale, power generation equipment and their sub-assemblies following blueprints and specific work instruction. Disassemble major structures and sub-assemblies for boiler parts in a timely manner and according to job order, verbal instructions, procedures, and / or blueprints
Perform basic inventory of parts before assembly
Be responsible for cleaning parts
Use measuring tools and apply knowledge of basic mathematics to measure various parts / components
Break down and perform visual inspection of internal working parts for structures or sub-assemblies
Shot blast off paint /rust / etc. using sanding procedure
Set up and operate grinders / sanders, jackhammers, oven, pneumatic tools, saws, cranes, blast booth, and fork lifts
Operate scissor lift as needed
Use various electric / air tools
Record measurements on various documents
Trouble shoot problems or issues that arise (according to specification)
Assist more experienced Assemblers with assembly
Qualifications/Requirements
High School Diploma / GED
3+ years of relevant mechanical experience within a heavy industrial manufacturing setting or related industry.

What Are the Requirements of the Job?

The Assembler will have to perform the assembly and test the parts and valves according to the technical drawings and engineering specifications. The Assembler will share the status of the situation and any comments on the status and issues related to the assembly of the valves. Sub-assembly and Large Assembly (torques, Loctite's, or anti seize sub-assembly)
Prepare for Shipping
Disassemble returns to evaluate, fix and refurbish items
Work with QC to put reassemble and complete run-off testing
Transporting parts between buildings/departments with fork truck/pallet truck
Adhere to company Malpractice & Ethics Policies

Qualifications:

Test operation of assembly by hand.

High School diploma or equivalent required.

The Refractory Assembler follows documented standard operating procedures to assemble refractory product(s) by mortaring and welding (MIG) them together.
Responsibilities
Inspecting each part prior to mortaring and securing together with a tac weld
Placing secured refractory piece on drying rack in oven and monitor drying process (12 hour)
Setting up and prepping components for welding according to specifications; confirming that there is no porosity in the welds; perform MIG weld per engineering drawing and examining weld for bead size and other specification
Palletizing, banding, documenting and labeling items for shipment
Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) Preferred
Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to interpret blueprints and understand welding symbols
Ability to interpret welding procedures and basic measurement computations
Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with Bill of Materials and Work Instructions, as directed
Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment
Ability to safely operate a forklift
Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools

The Refractory Assembler requires two (2) - four (4) years of MIG welding experience in a machine operating or production/manufacturing environment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of the time standing, using hands and fingers, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, speaking and hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time walking; and less than 1/3 of time sitting.
Lifting: Requires lifting up to 50 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
Vision: Requires accurate close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception, including the ability to adjust focus.
