Job Description: As an Electromechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of the manufacturing team that builds the units we ship to customers. Your work will focus on small, detailed hand assemblies, including electronic boards, mechanical sub-assemblies, and precision optical components that are glued, aligned, and secured on the bench.
Our systems are deployed around the world to support ultra-secure communications and the future quantum internet. Most projects at Qunnect sit at the intersection of optics, atomic physics, and electronics. In this entry-level role, your primary responsibility will be to assemble repeatable, high-quality modules and sub-systems that become the core building blocks of Qunnect's products.
As a salaried employee, you should be prepared to support periods of high volume and tight deadlines, which may occasionally fall outside a standard 9 am to 5 pm schedule. In our highly dynamic and collaborative environment, it is essential that you are coachable, team-oriented, and eager to learn new skills.
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Brooklyn, NY.
Responsabilities:
· Perform careful, independent bench work on a variety of daily assembly tasks to meet production deadlines.
· Assemble consistent, high-quality components, sub-assemblies, and finished products from assembly instructions, drawings, and build manuals.
· Work with small components and detailed hand assemblies, including: 1) Electronic and electromechanical assemblies; 2) Mechanical fixtures and enclosures; and 3) Optical assemblies such as mounting and gluing lenses, mirrors, and related parts.
· Use tweezers, microscopes, and other tools to handle small parts with care and precision.
· Record and report task progress, issues, and nonconformities in a clear and timely manner.
· Collaborate within the production team and with engineers to solve problems and improve build quality and repeatability.
· Safely and properly handle components, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
· Safely operate and maintain a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and general-purpose electronic test equipment (GPTE).
· Troubleshoot, repair, rework, and test assemblies as needed.
· Queue and post-process 3D printed parts as part of the build process.
· Identify opportunities to improve Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) of components, fixtures, and tools.
· Work with product managers and engineers to create and refine build manuals and work instructions.
· Cross-train within the department to learn additional skills and processes.
· Complete other tasks as assigned to support production and operations.
· Follow all safety protocols, best practices, and company policies, including those described in the employee handbook.
Required Qualifications:
· Degree or formal training in Electromechanical Assembly, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
· Comfort using basic productivity software, such as MS Word and Excel or Google Docs and Sheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong mechanical aptitude and enjoyment of detailed hand assembly work with small parts.
· High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing components and workspaces.
· Basic experience tracking and communicating project tasks, status, and timelines.
· Familiarity with electronics handling, ESD precautions, and simple electrical systems.
· Familiarity with micrometers, calipers, multimeters, and other precision measuring tools.
· Demonstrated ability to understand how systems and sub-systems fit together is a plus.
· Experience working to high-tolerance specifications is a plus.
· Experience with radio frequency (RF) systems or photonics is a plus.
· Soldering ability and a basic understanding of electronics are a plus.
· Fluency with advanced tools such as CAD or data management systems is a plus.
Compensation: Salary range: $70,000-95,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Purpose
Troubleshoots repairs and maintains a wide variety of Compounding, Packaging and Facilities equipment, including but not limited to mixing kettles, washers, mills, pumps, tube fillers, bottle fillers, cartoners, over-wrappers, labelers, induction sealers, robotic case packers, laser printers and aggregation labeling, inspection, printers, and data management.
Supports and assists in the installation and qualification of new equipment and controls; supports facilities systems and services as required. Develops low to mid-level upgrades improvements in support of operational improvements and CAPAs.
Major Accountabilities
First responder, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair advanced electrical equipment problems with little or no supervision in all areas of the facility, documenting repairs in Maintenance and Repair Logs as per cGMP guidelines.
Perform and document scheduled routine preventative maintenance on electrical systems as required
Communicates and works with Mechanics and Facilities Maintenance associates to resolve cross-over issues
Support creation, management of recipes, system access, user management and other data in non-network process equipment
Backup of electronic records, system files, and operating systems. Assist with review, investigation and inspection of local machine data, system configuration management, version control and retention of PLC and HMI software
Maintains inventory of routinely used parts and supplies.
Works with automation and project engineers to support deliverables, installation and qualification for new equipment and technologies
Assemble and install electrical equipment modifications, upgrades, and improvements as directed by engineering personnel
Plan and execute level upgrades in support of equipment improvements and CAPAs
Execute validation dry runs to identify inconsistencies in protocols; supports the execution of IQ and OQ protocols on new equipment and equipment modifications
Manages small-size and mid-size automation projects, including generating documentation, coordination of resources from start to finish. Research and identify “Functionally Equivalent” components for replacement of obsolete and unavailable components
Provides necessary information for appropriate documentation of functionally equivalent components
Adheres to all applicable procedures, cGMP's, company policies, and all other quality or regulatory requirements (OSHA, DEA, FDA, EMEA, ANVISA, HS&E, etc.)
Ensures all work is performed in a safe, effective manner, and in compliance with the appropriate industry and regulatory (FDA, DEA,OSHA) standards, and Departmental, Plant, and corporate quality and Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) goals.
Note: This position may require the labeling, packaging, or movement of hazardous (flammable, corrosive, toxic, etc.) waste within the facility. If so, this employee would be trained under OSHA's HAZWOPER standard,29 CFR 1910.120 as an 8-Hour first responder, 24-Hour incident commander, or a 40-Hour incident commander. In lieu of HAZWOPER training, the employee will receive training on the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act pursuant to 40 CFR265.16.All employees that have received the above-mentioned training upon hire will receive annual refresher training that covers the OSHA HAZWOPER standard and the requirements of RCRA. Requirements
* Set up and label SMT products
* Component preparation, masking and using different types of adhesives.
* Mechanical assembly
* Through hole and SMT hand soldering and rework.
* Interpret IPC-A-610 standards for acceptability and customer specifications. (Certified training will be provided)
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills:
* The individual in this position must be fluent in writing, speaking, and understanding English.
* Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Other Skills and Abilities:
* Must be computer literate.
* Experience working in production and PCB Assembly.
* Familiarity with assembly tools and Through hole and Surface mount Technology would be a plus.
* Familiarity with Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components and assembly process a plus
* Familiarity with using hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, etc.
* Conscientious regarding quality, time management, teamwork, and safety.

Role Responsibilities:
* Assembly of non-repetitive parts which may include multiple parts per operation.
* Package parts and assemblies.
* Ensure compliance to prints.
* Operate test equipment when required.
* Ensure proper documentation with labeling.
* Complies with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures.

The Production Technician I is responsible for the aseptic manufacturing of Cresilon's products for the animal health industry. The Production Technician II will be trained in clean room operations, aseptic techniques, and must demonstrate the ability to successfully pass gowning qualifications.
