About the role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Transformer Field Assembly Technician to join our field operations team. This role involves the assembly, installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of medium and high voltage power transformers at customer sites. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on field assembly experience, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively under field conditions. Essential Functions Assemble and install power transformers (typically 480V to 500kV) and associated accessories, including radiators, conservator tanks, bushings, fans, etc. Perform oil processing and vacuum filling using filtration and degassing equipment. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on On-Load Tap Changers (OLTCs), including inspection, contact replacement, and mechanical adjustments. Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer manuals. Support electrical testing such as power factor, winding resistance, ratio, and insulation resistance under the direction of field engineers. Strictly follow all quality assurance and EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) procedures. Document all work performed, complete assembly checklists, and prepare comprehensive technical field reports. Professionally interface with clients, transformer manufacturers, OEM representatives, and other site contractors. Support dismantling and removal of existing transformer units as necessary.
