This role in summary
This position will operate and support specific automated equipment related to an assigned area. Each area has machines with industrial computers for monitoring faults, troubleshooting, and overall process operation. The Production Technician will be responsible for keeping the flow of the equipment moving. This includes reacting to faults and jam ups that cause production stoppages and inspections/gaging. Equipment and surrounding areas will be kept clean and operating correctly. Preventative/Autonomous maintenance will be performed on a routine basis.
Your responsibilities will include
Technician will order and load material into machinery when applicable. Technician will monitor any applicable flow racks and/or kanban storage areas for potential part shortages.
Technician will monitor the equipment and keep it running. Responsible for production output levels and quality. This includes understanding targets and monitoring digital dashboard information.
Responding to/resetting of faults and machine stoppages and clearing of jam ups is required. Understanding the fault lights is a must.
The Technician is responsible for part inspection, part quality and documenting information.
Lubrication and inspection of various stations, pallets, components, etc. is required.
Identify and escalate safety, quality and nonstandard process related issues.
Technician will work closely with AST support personnel by highlighting any repeat issues or concerns.
Technician will work with department supervision on changeovers, PM/AM planning and customer service. AM/PM activity will require a different break schedule at times.
Operate basic hand tools.
Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc.
Minimum requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
Must pass Production Tech test
Must acquire and maintain LOTO authorization after hire
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Post high school technical training in the following areas is a plus: electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics
Organized and detail-oriented
Ability to build effective working relationships throughout the organization
Preferred skills and experiences

Key Activities & Responsibilities
* Cleans and assembles component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies
* Uses various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks
* Removes burrs and rough spots from parts with hand file, hone stone, or portable pneumatic grinder
* Operates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and materials in and out of work area and to assemble large components
* Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision
* Perform all required job functions in a safe manner consistent with plant safety standards and report any problems immediately to the team leader or Department Supervisor.
* Other duties as assigned: may include basic welding, washing, primer and painting of components or assemblies.
* Performs correct material transactions on shop routings and fill out the appropriate forms for non-conformance parts.
* Document's work done using appropriate check off sheets, photographs and documents all shipments assemblies.
* Performs the essential checks and adjustments using appropriate processes, uses gauges or other measuring instruments when needed for proper assembly.
* When necessary, train /mentor associates in job duties safety and lean activities.
* Demonstrate ability to step up to leadership role within the organization.
* Participate in lean activities and attain in-house lean certifications.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
* Knowledge of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures required.
* Relevant trade school or college course work desired.
* Ability to correctly use and read a tape measure, and read/understand job-related blueprints, required.
* + Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
* Ability to read drawings and blueprints accurately.
* Able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
* Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files.
* Must be dependable, dedicated to completing work assignments correctly, and use time wisely.

**This role in summary**
This position will have responsibility for performing Engineering / Technical support (with a focus on Press Room equipment and related projects) in InSinkErator's Fabrication departments.
