In partnership with Employee and Labor Relations, you will facilitate complaint resolution, when appropriate. In this role, you will effectively coordinate investigations and/or collaborate with Employee and Labor Relations, Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Staff Diversity & Compliance, Title IX, Risk Management, Staff/Faculty Counseling, Audit, Campus HR, Local/General Counsel and UCOP when appropriate/required.
As our Employee Relations Investigator, you will also provide training and consultation to departments in a variety of employee relations/complaint areas to reduce future complaints and liability. You will assist in process improvements related to complaint investigations; within HumanResources and in coordination with other UCLA Offices/UCOP. You will also manage special projects as assigned, serve on cross functional task forces/committees and provide cross coverage for Employee Relations as needed.

* 7+ years of progressive experience in employee relations/complaint investigations (or related experience).
* Healthcare industry, higher education, and/or public sector experience preferred; experience in a union environment preferred.

HumanResources: Oversee, administer, and assist in the implementation of various HR functions such as employee and labor relations, training, and general HR duties within cross-functional teams at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
Employee Relations: Foster positive relationships between employees and management, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring fair treatment and compliance with labor laws and regulations. Must possess excellent investigation capabilities to engage in impartial disciplinary investigation meetings. Ensures compliance to Wage & Hour, Employee Handbook, and Collective Bargaining Agreement for warehouse & drivers.
Project Management: Responsible for overseeing and managing HR projects and initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and achieve organizational goals.
Compliance Enforcement: Tasked with ensuring that the organization complies with relevant employment laws, collective bargaining agreement, local and state regulations, and internal policies through audits, training, and policy development.
Systems Administration: Managing and optimizing HR systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting system users to meet organizational needs efficiently.
Training and Development: Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance in areas such as legal compliance, safety, and HR policies.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position of HR Generalist will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization while supporting their HumanResources needs. Performs HumanResources duties in some or all of the following functional areas: employee and labor relations within a unionized environment, employee safety, and the administration and operations within HumanResources. WHAT YOU'LL DO
HumanResources: Oversee, administer, and assist in the implementation of various HR functions such as employee and labor relations, training, and general HR duties within cross-functional teams at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
Employee Relations: Foster positive relationships between employees and management, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring fair treatment and compliance with labor laws and regulations. Must possess excellent investigation capabilities to engage in impartial disciplinary investigation meetings. Ensures compliance to Wage & Hour, Employee Handbook, and Collective Bargaining Agreement for warehouse & drivers.
Project Management: Responsible for overseeing and managing HR projects and initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and achieve organizational goals.
Compliance Enforcement: Tasked with ensuring that the organization complies with relevant employment laws, collective bargaining agreement, local and state regulations, and internal policies through audits, training, and policy development.
Systems Administration: Managing and optimizing HR systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting system users to meet organizational needs efficiently.
Training and Development: Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance in areas such as legal compliance, safety, and HR policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of HR Administrative or Supervisory experience within a non-profit or distribution environment preferred.
Bachelor's degree in HumanResources or related field preferred.
PHR designation is helpful but not required.
Knowledge of CA employment and wage & hour laws.
Must be resourceful and possess strong analytical skills with the ability to think creatively to solve problems
Ability to work cohesively as a team as well as work independently, demonstrating a service-first ethic
Well-organized and detail-oriented, highly adaptable and able to maintain challenging projects

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of electronic health record processes; such as, record storage and retrieval, record retention, workflow, authentication and documentation standardization. Ability to establish and maintain various data collection, record keeping, tracking, filing, and reporting systems.
Ability to maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations regarding the management of EHR client information.
Ability to assess the training needs of staff and develop appropriate training programs.
Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based applications, databases, internet usage, and Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.
Excellent organizational, decision-making, time management, oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates, physician's office personnel, vendors, external organizations, and the general public.
Knowledge preferred of clinical and business needs and processes within health care organizations.
Ability to assist in efficient office operations.

Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality pertaining to work environment.

Ability to travel locally to between various ESSC locations, with own reliable transportation; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
Ability to pass all drug testing required by ESSC.

As our Labor Relations Specialist, you will establish and maintain satisfactory labor-management relations, including monitoring and ensuring adherence to contract provisions, participating in negotiating sessions, and addressing grievances and questions of a specific group of union employees. In consultation with the ER/LR manager, you will evaluate merits of grievances and complaints and draft response letters accordingly. Under supervision, you will assist as needed in the grievance process, including, but not limited to, assisting with Step 1 meetings, drafting Step 1 responses, and supporting Labor Relations Managers as well as track the status of grievances.
In this role, you will also support Labor Relations Managers during negotiations, including, but not limited to, reviewing proposals; providing input on bargaining strategy; tracking proposals, notes, and sign-in sheets; and managing requests for release time.
Salary Range: $78,500 to $163,600 Annually
