Astrotech Space Operations company history timeline

1981

Astrotech Space Operations LLC (ASO) opened its doors in 1981 as an aerospace consulting business.

1984

Astrotech (NASDAQ: ASTC) was established in 1984.

1997

In 1997, ASO was acquired by SPACEHAB, which later became known as Astrotech Corporation.

2007

2007: Bankruptcy averted with liabilities/equity exchange offer

2008

2008: 1st Detect and Astrogenetix incorporated

2011

Additionally, ASO designed and operated the Sea Launch Home Port payload processing facility from inception until 2011.

2014

ASO became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin in August 2014, reporting to Lockheed Martin's Space Systems business.

2014: Astrotech Space Operations sold to Lockheed Martin

2016

​2016: 1st Detect, an Astrotech Subsidiary Received Three United States Patents for Chemical Analyzers

2018

2018: Astrotech Announces 1st Detect's Tracer 1000 Passes Europe's ECAC Test

2019

2019: Launched AgLab, Inc.

2020

The final SkySat spacecraft are scheduled to launch on another Starlink rideshare mission in 2020.
