Responsible for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department as well as the implementation of programs to improve the quality of care delivered. Principal Accountabilities
Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established
Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff
Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options
Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing practice and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.
Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS
BSN Required
BLS Required; ACLS Preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of Adult Acute Care experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse
Valid New Jersey Nursing License

The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to join the team on the 12-bed Cardiac Step-Down Unit. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians, fellow APPs, and the multidisciplinary care team to assess, manage, and coordinate care for acutely ill cardiac patients.
Responsibilities include direct involvement in medical consultation, patient assessments, procedures, and care planning. The APP will specialize in the management of complex cardiac conditions, recommend diagnostic testing, and initiate appropriate treatment strategies in collaboration with the attending team. Ideal candidates will have procedural experience, including central and arterial line placement, and a background in critical care or step-down environments. Point-of-care ultrasound experience is preferred.

The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. EXPERIENCE: 5 -7 years clinical experience required; expert knowledge of and ability to teach adult teaching principles required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens along with infectious diseases. Physical demands include but are not limited to consideration stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-50 lbs. frequently; lifting 50-100 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
