Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Operates as a customer service champion, keeping patients and providers informed, providing information and updates to patients, apologizing for waits, demonstrating caring, compassion, and concern, demonstrating a sense of urgency, advocating for pain management, and ensuring that patients can get help at any time. Demonstrates, through behavior, Emory Healthcare's core values of integrity, compassion, service, excellence, stewardship, and teamwork as outlined in the organization's SERVICE initiatives. Administers medication, oral or by injection, and performs phlebotomy procedures under a Physician's or RN's direction / Protocol or order. Inserts peripheral IVs, intraosseous devices, administers IV fluids without additives and maintains prescribed IV flow rates. Observes and documents condition of infusion sites. Removes IV lines as directed by RN or provider. Applies slings, sling-n-swathe, finger splints, application of first-aid dressings, and noninvasive orthopedic devices. Clean and dress wounds, as appropriate. Follows Emory Healthcare isolation protocols, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, and performs hand washing according to Emory Healthcare policies and procedures. Transports unmonitored patients to inpatient departments as needed, transports stable monitored patients to med-tele, or accompanies RN to transport patients to critical or progressive care units. Assists by performing vital signs, obtaining 12 lead EKGs and documents completion of test after giving results to physician for sign off. Initiates cardiac monitoring, demonstrates ability to detect dysrhythmias and notifies the assigned nurse, charge nurse, and/or provider of abnormalities. Initiates oxygen therapy as directed by RN or Physician. Access electronic medical records as necessary for job duties, and document interventions according to Emory Healthcare policies, procedures, and protocols. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion/graduation from an accredited Paramedic program. 2 years of clinical experience as a licensed/certified paramedic. Ensuring that physician orders are put correctly into the computer. Facilitating the acqusition of diagnostic studies as appropriate. May be required to obtain medical records from other hospitals. Performs other duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited EMT-Advanced or EMT-Intermediate training program.
