A Brief Overview Provides direct patient care to all patients as well as documentation of care in accordance with policies and procedures under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Follows directions and instructions for treatment and other tasks as directed by the Licensed Physical Therapist. Provides care in an effective and competent manner. What you will do * Follows ethics and standards as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association and Avera policy and procedures. * Follows the practices and standards per the State Board of Medical Examiners for the title of licensed physical therapy assistants. * Provides treatments to patients in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with the PT plan of care and physician's orders. * Communicates with the therapist appropriately to ensure effective treatment. * Produces appropriate, specific, clinical documentation for patient care given and assists with scheduling and paperwork associated with patient care. * Documents progress notes in accordance with departmental policies. * Charges patient appropriately for treatments given on a daily basis under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. * Assists with paperwork activities, files charts, and other duties, which may include and not be limited to billing, documentation, correspondence and file management. * Assists with clinical education of physical therapist assistant students. A Brief Overview Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, responsible to administer specified evaluations, conduct general activity programs, and assist in implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team. What you will do * Provides input on evaluation as appropriate under supervision of a staff Occupational Therapist. * Plans treatment programs with supervising therapist. * Assists in identifying goals, determining treatment priorities and selecting appropriate treatment media. * Executes treatment programs under supervision of staff therapist. * Coordinates programs with other therapists. * Prepares documentation as required by the department, such as input on evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports and patient attendance records. * Communicates observations, facts, and comments with interdisciplinary team members, individually and through team meeting participation. * Assists with staff/student on the job training/orientation. * Provides monitoring of assigned student interns. * Attends care conferences as needed. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
