A Brief Overview
Provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice.
What you will do
* Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.
* Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members. Effectively contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies appropriate methods designed to increase each person's motivation to assume responsibility for their own health care.
* Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
* Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and formulates appropriate plan of care.
* Provides quality care for patient, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices.
* Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards.
* Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards.
* Meets regularly with the care team for consultation and collaboration as well as with personnel to promote quality care for patients. Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients.
* Maintains patient records and accurate information.

**Qualifications**

Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred. Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances. Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).
For Physician Assistant's - Master's or Baccalaureate degree (Associate's or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994). Successful completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors. Successful completion of the national certifying examination and current certification given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. **Job Summary**
The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to hospitalized patients, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage acute and chronic conditions. The NP performs comprehensive assessments, develops and implements treatment plans, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and coordinates patient care to ensure optimal outcomes during hospital stays. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and review of diagnostic results. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in hospitalized patients. Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures. Prescribe medications and treatments according to hospital protocols and state regulations. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary. Facilitate patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment, and discharge plans. Coordinate patient care with consulting specialists, nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare providers. Document all patient encounters and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Participate in hospital rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Respond to emergent patient needs and assist in critical care situations as needed. This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.
**Qualifications**
Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
Previous experience in hospital medicine, acute care, or related clinical settings preferred.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or (ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC); Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP-C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP)
Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.

A Brief Overview
