Work where you matter. A Brief Overview Responds and assists the professional nursing staff and Physicians during the pre-procedure, procedure, and post procedure period. This position will assist with procedure room set-up, equipment cleaning and maintenance, pre and post procedure assistance as directed by the Registered Nurse as well as entering and maintaining inventory control and clerical duties for the department. What you will do * Prepares the Operating Room for surgical procedures in a timely fashion. This may include, not be limited to: organizing equipment and needed instruments; setting up quickly and accurately for emergency cases; assuring proper and adequate equipment for all cases. * Assists the surgeon as the first or second scrub person during surgical procedures. Maintains a sterile field at all times in the procedure area. Maintains efficiency in handling surgical instruments at physician's request. Verifies specimens with surgeons and nurses. * Assists the circulating nurse to account for all instruments, needles, and sponges involved with the surgical procedure. * Achieves and maintains working knowledge of all OR machinery and equipment used on the sterile field (i.e., lasers, scope equipment, and electric and nitrogen motors). * Receives and verifies correct implants for all surgical procedures (i.e., grafts, orthopedic hardware, allograft etc.). * Assists with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff and students. * Assists in transporting of patients to the O.R. when necessary. * Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization, according to Infection Control and established QA monitoring guidelines as demonstrated by annual competency review. * Operates sterilization equipment which includes: steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer. Operates equipment according to manufacturer operational directions and in a manner that ensures the safety of the operator as demonstrated by annual competency review. * Utilizes desktop and laptop computers and handheld PDA for instrument decontamination, assembly and tracking functions. Washes and sterilizes equipment and keeps a clean operating room. * Rotates in SPD area cleaning & sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, & clinics. * Updates preference cards to ensure all team members can perform procedures as per surgeon requests. * Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedure, and standards of practice. * Verifies patient identity. Verifies operative procedure, operative site, surgeon, and consent. * Applies and monitors the principles of aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period. * Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policy procedure. * Participates in the evaluation of new supplies, equipment and/or instruments. * Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments according to instructions. Work where you matter. A Brief Overview Responsible for operating radiologic equipment including c-arms and ERCP equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. What you will do * Prepares patients and adjusts equipment for taking exposure. Positions patients for procedures. Works with physicians to obtain optimal images. * Determines proper voltage and current and desired exposure time and practices ALARA. Adjusts lead shield to protect unaffected parts of the body from exposure to radiation. Selects DR plate and inserts into holder if applicable or improvises method to assure appropriate set-up. Positions equipment at proper distance and angles from body to specified area. Activates machinery from safety of protective enclosure or while shielded. Arrange, attach or adjust immobilization and support devices (e.g. sand bags, binders, tape to obtain precise position, prevent patient movement and lessen discomfort). * Operates c-arm equipment to provide quality images for the surgeons. * Coordinates surgery schedules to assure surgeons receive excellent radiology service. * Performs clerical duties (In House PACS and Teleradiology Competent). * Takes x-ray images in other areas of the hospital with portable equipment Transport equipment to areas such as operating room, emergency room, and patient rooms. Observe sterile techniques and complete procedures promptly. * Assists with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation. Mentors and assists in the education of students enrolled in the School of Radiological Technology. * Produces high quality images via digital imaging and presents the images satisfactorily for Radiologist interpretation. * Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance, Joint Commission accreditation, OSHA guidelines or as required by law. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. A Brief Overview Performs tasks contributing to performance of maintenance dialysis for patients with end stage renal disease, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. All facility staff must meet the personnel qualifications and demonstrated competencies necessary to serve collectively the comprehensive complex needs of the dialysis patient. Identifies intradialytic comorbidities and monitors patient and equipment alarms during treatment. What you will do * Understands water room equipment operation and function; completes testing and follows up appropriately on abnormal results and completes required documentation. * Completes dialysis treatments, initiation and discontinuation from internal accesses, monitoring of vascular access function and appropriately reports signs of stenosis, occlusion or infection to RN. * Assembles and prepares necessary treatment supplies, rinses and primes dialyzer and attaches and installs all required tubing according to unit procedure. Test and set parameters according to dialysis prescription. * Monitors equipment for safe and proper functioning, respond to alarms, and make appropriate adjustments; including blood flow rates and fluid removal rates * Completes accurate documentation of dialysis access and patient treatment. * Observes patient during treatments, notifies RN of any adverse reactions. Responds to dialysis -related emergencies, immediately seeking assistance from RN. * Provides technical assistance to nurses and readily follows direction from nurses for hemodialysis treatments. * Participates in collaboration with patients, family, physicians, other nursing staff and all ancillary departments.
