Banner North Colorado Medical Center is looking for full-time Paramedics to work in our Emergency Department in Greeley, Colorado. In this role you will care for patients, administer medications, document assessments, etc.
We currently have Night Shifts available!
Shift time:
6pm-6:30am working three, 12 hour shifts per week. Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotations required.
You will receive a flat rate $1.50/hourly weekend shift differential as well as a $5/hourly night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for patient care in the emergency department as assigned under the medical direction of the base hospital EMS Medical Director. This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional paramedic practice. This position is accountable for the quality of patient services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates acuity level of patients and insures appropriate matching of patients care needs to unit and hospital resources. Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their specific needs.
2. Performs basic patient care appropriately within scope of training: positioning, transportation, phlebotomy, ECGs, maintenance of spinal precautions. Administers or monitors medications when indicated and as ordered by a physician. Such medications are limited to those approved for administration and/or monitoring by a paramedic in the State of practice. Assists patient in transfer using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques. Starts peripheral intravenous lines, including external jugular lines, initiates infusion, and maintains and adjusts fluid administration per physician order.
3. Performs cardio-vascular monitoring and management within scope of training.
4. Performs airway management within scope of training and within state guidelines to include oxygen administration, tracheal suctioning, assisting with ventilation, positioning, end-tidal CO2 and pulse-ox monitoring.
5. Actively participates in the resuscitation of critical patients as assigned. Observes and monitors patients through the diagnostic phase of treatment.
6. Performs other duties as assigned based on competency and training.
7. Recognizes changes in patient status that requires notification of charge or primary nurse and physician. Keeps charge or primary nurse informed of patient status and current activities. Alerts responsible physician to changes in patient status.
8. Documents assessment and reassessments within unit guidelines on appropriate documentation forms. Documents the incorporation of assessment findings and appropriate standards statement to support desired Patient Outcomes. Documents patient progress toward outcomes and responses to interventions/therapeutic modalities example: Response to pain medication. Documents the discharge plan of care and services consulted during patient visit.
9. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Must possess a current and valid Paramedic certification or license within the state of practice and maintenance thereafter. Current BLS and ACLS certification is required. PALS is required if working in the Emergency Department or with Pediatric population. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on specialty of practice.
Moderate experience typically gained through 2-4 years relevant work experience OR 12-18 months in an educational program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
FP-C or CCT-P Certification if working in ICU, Burn or CVCU.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing patient care and assists health care providers in performing assigned patient procedures within scope of training. Position receives general supervision from RN, APN, PA, or Physician in providing patient care.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under general supervision of the RN, APN, PA, or Physician, performs assigned procedures including, but not limited to: electrocardiogram testing (EKG); wound cleansing; initial, repeat and orthostatic vital sign measurements; application of monitor leads, specimen collection, and transports stable telemetry or non-monitored patients to nursing units. Advanced skills and functions: Where state statute permits, performs blood glucose testing; phlebotomy; saline lock insertion; IV discontinuation; bladder (Foley) catheterization. After training in these advanced skills the ED Tech may perform these functions per state and facility guidelines on adult patients and pediatric patients twelve years of age and older upon direct delegation of the task.

Sets up, prepares patient and assists with patient exam and minor surgical or health procedures within scope of training such as, but not limited to: lumbar punctures; sterile instrument and field preparation, suturing lacerations, chest tube insertion, closed fracture reduction, gastric lavage, pelvic examinations, restraint application, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Applies orthopedic devices, to include pre-manufactured and plaster splints under physician direction.
3. Performs specimen collection, ensuring accuracy in identification and integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required by Lab. Where state statute permits, performs point of care testing for blood glucose, hemoccult and gastroccult or other tests, and performs quality control checks on point of care equipment as required.
4. Provides communication and updates to RN, Physician or other providers related to perceived reactions or changes to patients' condition. Accurately records information in the patient record, documents vital signs and procedures completed, as well as the equipment and techniques utilized.
5. Monitors supply stock levels and reports needs. Notifies housekeeping, maintenance, biomedical engineering, and others to ensure proper equipment and a safe environment is maintained. Maintains appropriate levels of stock in medication room, exam room bedside carts, and specialty carts. Assists with health unit coordination tasks and reception responsibilities as needed.
6. Attends department meetings and educational sessions; Assists in orienting and training of new ED Technicians.
7. Position receives general supervision from RN, APN, PA, or Physician and other appropriate licensed health professionals. Position uses problem solving skills and provides effective communication with patients, patient families, health care providers and ancillary departments within the organization to provide quality patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides pre-hospital evaluation, treatment and transportation of sick and/or injured victims of all age groups. Operates in non-emergent, emergent and /or transfer situations at a Basic to Intermediate Life Support level, if necessary, until arrival at a definitive care facility.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides pre-hospital medical care for pediatric through geriatric populations, which includes assessing patient condition, rendering of appropriate care, utilizing appropriate invasive treatments and administering medications.
2. Operates an assigned vehicle in emergent and non-emergent situations and in varying weather conditions, providing safe, reliable and timely transport to a designated point of service.
3. Performs general care and maintenance of vehicles. Performs daily vehicle inspections, completes and accurately inventories and inspects medical equipment, supplies and medications assigned to the department.
4. Maintains complete and accurate patient care reports (PCRs), prepares and maintains logs and/or other applicable records during assigned shift.
5. Demonstrates age specific competency for applicable patient populations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
EMT-Basic or higher certification within the state of practice on date of hire. Current BLS certification on date of hire and maintenance thereafter. Valid Driver's License on date of hire. Depending on work location may be required to obtain Ambulance Attendance licensure within 30 days of hire, and maintenance thereafter. 9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Auto insurance coverage is also required to be active and maintained.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working in the Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit must possess an Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working in any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
