In 1983, Beckstoffer Vineyards purchased the Napa Valley property and harvested multiple clones of cabernet sauvignon.
In 1990, as wine drinkers were developing a voracious appetite for Napa cabs at seemingly any price, Mr.
Perhaps the most famous of the Beckstoffer vineyards, Beckstoffer To Kalon was purchased from Beaulieu Vineyard in 1993.
Replanted in 1994 to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with modern trellising and closer vine spacing, the vineyard produces several highly coveted vineyard-designated wines.
Beckstoffer Vineyards acquired the vineyard in 1997 and planted multiple clones of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, and cabernet franc.
In 2007 the property was placed under a land conservation easement that forever prohibits non-agricultural development.
A portion of the vineyard was purchased by Beckstoffer vineyards in 2010 and planted old-growth petite syrah and various clones of cabernet sauvignon.
Even as their purchases of other luxury goods have increased, millennials have balked at high-priced cabernets, which combined with the coronavirus makes 2020 “the worst time since Prohibition for fine wine producers in the United States,” he said in an interview.
