Clinical Considerations and Decision Making: Ways in which Practice Assistants come to understand the problems, issues or concerns of patients/families, to attend to relevant/critical information and to respond in concerned and involved ways. Answers and transfers calls in accordance with Primary Care Guidelines. Takes accurate messages and relays the information to the appropriate staff, per established site/department protocol. If requested, please fax the Implanted Electronic device questionnaire with patient sticker to the designated physician office.
Accurately collates all patient medical record information, and testing results and places them in the patient medical record.
Assembles pre-operative patient charts as requested by clinical staff and prepares patient charts for next several day surgical procedures.
Scans orders as necessary to pharmacy.
Documents and tracks any items still needed for each patient record.
Communicates any identified discrepancy in patient information - demographics, date of birth or insurance to pre authorization department.
Answers telephone using proper etiquette and interacts professionally to meet caller's needs.
Performs clerical duties as assigned by Surgical Services administration.
Maintains inventory of office supplies.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Performs errands to other areas of the hospital.
