The Department is comprised of more than 60 FTE physicians and approximately 10 advance practitioners, all committed to providing exceptional patient care. The Group employs a hybrid schedule which includes the traditional 7 on, 7 off block schedule and regular day schedule. Although there are no hard caps, patient volume typically falls within SHM recommended ranges.
The Department of Hospital Medicine is a democratically run, collegial group where providers feel their contributions are recognized and valued. Ideal candidates should possess strong academic credentials including Residency Training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Candidates should be committed to providing exceptional patient care. Nocturnist Role DetailsSchedule: 7 on, 7 off block schedule.
Code Response: Nocturnists do not respond to codes; the ICU handles them.
Rapid Response: Nocturnists currently lead Rapid Responses with residents.
Admissions: Overnight Internal Medicine admissions are handled by residents, with 4-6 staffed by a Nocturnist.
Patient Care: Provide direct patient care and supervise Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) for both admissions and cross-coverage.
Work Environment: Our division is a collegial group that values and recognizes provider contributions.
