Patient Service Center Float Phlebotomists work in multiple Patient Service Centers (PSCs) staffed by Beth Israel Lahey Health Phlebotomy Services, as needs arise, to: (a) cover for PSC Phlebotomists' Paid Time Off, other absences, and FLMAs, (b) cover for vacant PSC Phlebotomist positions, (c) reduce patient wait times in PSCs that have longer wait times than desirable, and (d) facilitate the opening of new lab Patient Service Centers. As a Float Phlebotomist, you will have the opportunity to gain a vast amount of experience, working with a variety of patients, team members, and health care providers. This unique role will allow you to enhance your skills and prepare you for opportunities for further growth within the organization.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains adequate staffing levels and efficient, effective workflow and scheduling. (essential)
Provides training to phlebotomists to ensure competency. (essential)
Provides data input for the payroll system in the absence of Supervisor and Phlebotomy Leaders. (essential)
Acts as a technical resource for all difficult Phlebotomy blood draws for the institution. (essential)
Ensures rounds are completed as scheduled and provides assistance, as needed, to maintain timelines of routine and STAT blood draws. (essential)
Communicates lab issues and problems to Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Manager and recommends resolution. (essential)
On a daily basis, interacts and communicates with customers including patients, site office manager, physicians, and medical assistants. (essential)
Shares on-call duties. (essential)
Provides input for performance appraisals. (essential)
Ensures 24/7 coverage for Inpatient Rounds. (essential)
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Registration Phlebotomy Certificate preferred., and Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
1-3 years related work experience required.
Basic familiarity with computers.
Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Social/Environmental Requirements:
Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
Work routine is fairly consistent, but employee needs to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.

Pay Range:

The Team and Role
SPAN's Device Software team is responsible for all of the software that is physically embodied in our hardware products. Our first product - the SPAN Panel - contains a complex network of microcontrollers and a single board computer that must work together to react quickly to changing conditions with impeccable reliability in order to perform its job. Promotes the support systems of the Cancer Center to the community through volunteerism and communication.
Schedules, coordinates and prepares cases for Tumor Conferences.
Responsible for CME's and CEU's for Tumor Conferences.
Other duties as required.

Education/Experience Required:Three to five years tumor registry experience preferred.
Proficient in application of automated registry systems Demonstrated knowledge of ACOS Commission on Cancer requirements Ability to read, write and comprehend at 12th grade level Associates degree or higher: Will consider active enrollment in Associates Degree program if expected graduation date is within 6 months of hire.
Certification by the National Tumor Registrar's Association (CTR) Three to five years tumor registry experience.
Minimum one year application of automated registry systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of ACOS Commission on cancer requirements.
Registration/Certification:Tumor Registrar.
Must be actively enrolled in CTR program and able to sit and pass certification exam by National Cancer Registrar's Association within 18 months of hire.
Physical/Environmental RequirementsThis job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs.
There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 - 100 lbs and sitting.
Constant use of hearing, sight and speech.
Frequent use of smell and touch.
Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
Constant concentration and problem solving.
Pay Range: $21.
27 - $38.
