BG Schools company history timeline

1883

In 1883, the citizens of Bowling Green realized more educational opportunities were needed and the first public schools were established.

1891

The Brothers of the Sacred Heart initially arrived in Nashua in 1891, following the invitation of Father Millette, to take charge of the elementary school in St Louis Parish.

1908

Since 1908, BGHS has graduated over 20,000 young men and women and prepared them to take their place as leaders in our community and around the world.

1916

BGSU has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 01/01/1916.

1929

The normal school grew rapidly from the beginning and was able to become a college in 1929.

1938

As the student body continued to grow a second structure was added, In 1938, the first gymnasium was built and a new stage and classrooms were created from the former auditorium.

1963

Named in honor of Nashua native Bishop Georges-Albert Guertin, third bishop of Manchester, the school would open its doors in 1963.

1964

On September 9, 1964, Bishop Primeau blessed and opened the current site of Bishop Guertin High School on Lund Road.

1970

In 1970, the new comprehensive high school building opened on Rockingham Lane.

1992

In 1992, responding again to the needs of the people of Nashua, Bishop Guertin High School became a co-educational institution.

2020

A stipend of $11,250 in the 2020-21 academic year for students admitted with funding, plus tuition scholarships and opportunities for summer support.
