The Lab Engineer (Intern) plays a crucial role in advancing ANS's geotechnical engineering initiatives by conducting soil testing within our in-house geotechnical lab. This role primarily encompasses sample preparation, the execution of tests following established standards, and routine workstation maintenance. The selected individual(s) for this position will also be responsible for helping with accurate data collection such as weighing pigs and feeders for research trials related to swine nutrition and production management. Additional responsibilities including weekend care, power washing, cleaning, unloading and loading pigs, and routine barn maintenance are expected in this position. The 10-week Externship Program at BCI is composed of a series of modules designed to prepare students for careers in a forensic laboratory or investigations, and to further evaluate BCI's established training program. The externship will includes job shadowing, lecture participation, completing portions of the actual lab training program (mock evidence testing), a mock court testimony exercise, and when available externs will observe BCI forensic scientists in court. This externship opportunity is unpaid, but eligible for school credit (college or university dependent). Headquarter location can be London, Richfield, or Bowling Green. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families.
