About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Construction Estimator with strong experience in mechanical contracting to join our Charlotte team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of estimating experience and a proven background in healthcare and/or data center projects. This position plays a key role in supporting preconstruction efforts, ensuring accurate cost estimates, and contributing to successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping scopes.
Review project plans, specifications, and design documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure pricing accuracy and scope alignment.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients during preconstruction to identify cost-saving opportunities and constructability options.

Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a construction estimator in the mechanical contracting industry.
Proven experience estimating healthcare and/or data center projects is required.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping).
Proficient with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, FastPIPE/FastDUCT, or similar).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES:

Utilize all internal departments to clarify product information, intent of drawings and understanding of specifications to help in the elimination of errors.
When requested by sales, prepare shop drawings in AutoCAD to clearly and accurately portray the product locations and installation requirements.
Make effective decisions in a timely manner to satisfy both internal and external customers
Schedule pre-bid meetings on large jobs with the sales rep prior to starting the take-off.
Assist in training new employees in performing the Estimating take offs.
Monitor work related issues that may place restriction on job performance and notify Manager with a possible solution to remedy the problem.

Then this is the job for you! We're looking for a skilled and passionate individual to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team.

SPM specializes in precision metal fabrication, precision machining, electro-mechanical assembly, welding, engineering, prototyping, laser cutting, powder coating and finishing.
Key Responsibilities:
In this newly created role, your sheet metal and manufacturing skills will be critical to collaborate with the sales, purchasing and engineering teams to understand customer and project needs to develop accurate costs.
Analyze customer specs, CAD drawings, and production requirements
Develop accurate labor and material cost estimates
Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing departments
Identify opportunities for cost efficiency
Maintain estimating accuracy under deadlines
Support our organizational goals and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing reliable estimates and ensuring project execution.
Qualifications:
3+ years in Sheet Metal and/or Machining manufacturing
High School Diploma or GED (Degree or certificate in Engineering/Manufacturing preferred)
Experience with ERP software (e.g., PLEX, JobBoss, Epicor)
Basic CAD/CAM knowledge (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Strong math and blueprint reading skills
Familiar with estimating software (e.g., Paperless Parts)
Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and basic Windows OS
Able to use measuring tools like calipers
Work Environment
Physical: Combination of office and shop floor environments; office is climate-controlled, shop floor may have moderate noise and equipment.
