Boeing Global Services (BGS) Commercial Maintenance Training team is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer (Mid-Level & Senior) to join us in Seattle, WA.
The selected candidate will be primarily supporting our Learning Design team SOW for the Global Aviation Safety efforts to include Competency Based Training and Assessment courseware development but may also support legacy platform courseware sustainment activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists with developing maintenance training courseware
Researches and analyzes learning objectives and customer needs
Researches and evaluates training delivery methods for incorporation into new and existing courseware
Review courseware, instructor materials, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy
Analyze training requirements to provide technical content to support learning objectives
Defines standard and customer specific training requirements and develops proposals to satisfy requirements
Completes design review process with stakeholders
Designs technical learning solutions to meet customer and stakeholder objectives
Designs and provides recommendations to stakeholders on course structure, content, and methodologies
Supports developing and accessing new instructional strategies, methods, technologies and tools related to instructional design, development, and delivery
Analyze training effectiveness to ensure training effectiveness and inform courseware revisions
Review comments and collaborate with team to reconcile conflicting inputs
Evaluates technical training effectiveness and customer feedback
Ensures technical accuracy of maintenance training courseware
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
3+ years of experience with Instructional System Design Methodologies, Learning Data and Learning Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.) (Senior Level)
Master's degree or higher
10+ years' experience with Instructional System Design Methodologies, Learning Data and Learning Management Systems.
5+ years' experience with commercial aviation technical data

Key Duties

**Role Summary**
The Instructional Systems Designer II (ISD II), Inflight designs and develops instructional content, including lesson plans, presentation materials, guides, handouts, job aids, and other training materials, for Flight Attendants at Alaska Airlines. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight produces high quality regulatory and non-regulatory training programs. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight partners with Inflight Training Delivery, Safety & Compliance, Policy & Procedures and learning community stakeholders to ensure training is compliant with current regulations while looking for ways to create engaging and innovative instruction. The Instructional Systems Designer II, Inflight is a Learning Management System (LMS) administrator responsible for managing and maintaining online course offerings, managing Inflight user groups, and providing periodic reports to Inflight and corporate leadership.
**Key Duties**
+ Applies instructional design methods and best practices to define course requirements and create instructor-led and interactive course content.
+ Develops learning objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, and courseware (including CBT, multimedia, and job aides) that complies with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and Alaska Airlines policy.
+ Ensures that all training programs conform with 14 CFR Part 121 air carrier operations, approved training programs, and inflight operations.
+ Works with Subject Matter Experts to develop or revise curriculum based on FAA Advisory Circulars, applicable regulatory guidance, and Flight Attendant certification processes.
+ Coordinates with Inflight Leadership, subject matter experts, other divisions within Alaska Airlines, outside agencies (FAA/TSA), and vendors as required.
+ Writes and maintains technical procedures, documentation, and job aids.
+ Performs editing and quality assurance reviews of training materials.
+ Maintains and makes recommendations to improve the LMS (Cornerstone) and associated training programs for AS Inflight division.
+ Periodically creates courses, updates courses, assigns courses, and modifies student records in the LMS
+ Creates reports from data in the LMS to assist in tracking learner progress and other metrics.

**Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills**
**Required**
+ 2 years of experience in technical writing or instructional design.

+ Solid understanding of instructional design and performance improvement best practices.
+ Experience developing courseware to current industry and adult learning standards, including experiential learning, eLearning, social learning, and micro-learning.

What Will You Be Doing?
The Instructional Designer, Inflight role is responsible for the creation of Inflight Services training curriculum development, utilizing adult learning theory principles and progressive instructional design methodologies. In addition, the role will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, engaging various stakeholder groups to validate curriculum content and measuring the effectiveness of Inflight Services training programs.
Essential Functions:
* Develops Inflight Services training programs, including regulatory and non-regulatory program content and record-keeping/administration of the Inflight Services Learning Management System (LMS)
* Oversees preparation and presentation of training programs, learner satisfaction surveys and on-line/web-based (distance learning) courses

Qualifications:

Job Summary
The Lead Instructional Designer is a member of the Training & Development group. They are responsible for delivering training material and programs that meet regulatory requirements for qualification and certification of Amtrak's employees. Initially, this role will specifically work in the development and operation of Amtrak's new Track Foreman Training Program.
This role will utilize the ADDIE model to deliver blended learning deliverables such as instructor led training, eLearning, on the job training programs. This role will also design a diverse mix of multimedia deliverables through graphic design, publication design, video and audio production, on-location video recording, animation, and interactive design. This role may also take part in introducing new technology to support training such as Virtual Reality Training and remote learning technology or assist with the administration of the Learning Management System (LMS).
This position will interface with various stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), instructors, and LMS administrators throughout the organization. It requires technical aptitude, appreciation for process, project management mindset, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in both office and field settings.
Essential Functions
* Follow Amtrak instructional design and multimedia project processes and utilize templates.
Analysis:
* Conversations with end-client to determine business outcome needs

Implement:
* Host Train the Trainer sessions and walk-through with SMEs/client for new training programs or training technology
* Archive old training materials following proper procedure
* Update Amtrak's 49 CFR 243 Plan
* Communicate project completion to relevant stakeholders
Evaluation:
* As appropriate design and develop Kirkpatrick's levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 evaluation tools

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business or related field required (or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Minimum of 6 years relevant experience required (minimum of 10 years relevant experience in lieu of degree).
Must possess a solid background in designing learning programs, for multiple clients, while managing multiple projects. The ideal candidate(s) will be able to use their design skills equally well for Instructor Led Training and eLearning to drive significant performance improvement

The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 - $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Job Summary
The Instructional Design Intern will support RailPros' Training and Media Services team as we design, develop and deliver engaging learning experiences for our railroad-based customers.
