1970-Wayne residents form group and offer programs
His first experience with the Boys Club was in 1978, where he coached wrestling and competed with other Boys Clubs and Catholic grade schools.
The Club was officially chartered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1981, and nine years later changed their name to Boys & Girls Club of Wayne.
Butch moved to Virginia in 1984 through his construction business, and the company added land clearing and excavating projects.
Gineane grew up in Charlottesville and graduated from UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce in 1992.
In 1992 The Boys Club changed its name to Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County.
1993-Pequannock residents form group and offer programs
After serving as an artillery officer with the First Marine Division, Ernie earned his J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law in 1994, and served as a judge advocate in the Marine Corps.
Doctor Karen Schulder Rheuban serves as Professor of Pediatrics, Senior Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education and External Affairs, and Director of the University of Virginia Center for Telehealth, which she co-founded in 1995.
The Club embarked on a major expansion plan in 1995 with the purchase of the Pequannock School.
1996 Roxanne Spillett became the first woman to head the national Boys & Girls Club organization.
Since the "grand opening" in May of 1998, the Boys & Girls Club of Morris County has attracted over 1,400 youth ages 6 - 18 as participants in an array of programs and activities.
2000 Members of the Rotary Club of Trenton join the Club's Board of Trustees.
2003 Janet Krawtschenko was named President of the Board of Trustees and became our first female Board President.
2004-Morris County’s Randall Athletic Complex is completed
2005-Wayne and Morris County Clubs enter Management Agreement
2005 The Club incresed the number of youth served daily to 500, after purchasing our first 54 passenger bus and opening After School Programs at local school sites.
September 29, 2006-Merger complete, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest New Jersey formed
The Southwood Club expanded in 2007 in order to serve the increasing demand for after school and summer programs in the area.
Having resided in Charlottesville since 2007, Edward is active in the local community and performing arts scene—as an award-winning director, designer, actor, and volunteer.
He retired from military service in 2007, with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
The Madison Club opened in 2008 on the campus of Madison County High School.
Edward has worked for the University of Virginia since 2008—previously with the Office of the Dean of Students and the McIntire School of Commerce.
In September 2009, the Red Bank Unit opened its doors.
2009 The Club was awarded a five-year 21st Century Grant to fund attendance of 200 middle schoolers in our After School Program.
In September 2010, the Club opened its first new building at Cherry Avenue to serve the Charlottesville community.
In 2011, the Madison Club was offered a larger space to accommodate demand for membership from the Club’s partners in the Madison Schools.
2012 The Pool at Centre Street Clubhouse was rebuilt and the first More Than Hope Campaign is launched.
In 2014, the BGCCVA expanded again with the opening of the James River Club in the old Scottsville Elementary School.
2015 The new Clubhouse at 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrence is opened.
2017 The Club celebrated 80 years of service to this community.
Butch built houses until 2018.
2019 The Club opened our Community Garden and Learning Center on Centre Street and begins providing outdoor education.

2022 We’re celebrating our 85th anniversary by acknowledging the 85 ways we’ve helped neighborhood kids thrive—after school, all summer, wherever and whenever we’re needed to support youth.
