The Stronger Beginnings for Families Home Visitor is a critical member of the organization's prevention and family support programs, providing comprehensive, long-term home-visiting services within a strength-based, family-centered model to high risk expectant parents and families with young children. As a Home Visitor, you will meet regularly with families with young children to provide observations of parent-child interactions, including assessing for effective communication and empathic responses and engaging parents in reflective dialogue on the developing parent-child relationship, as well as partnering with them to establish family and child development goals and support them in expanding their support systems. The Home Visitor also provides parenting support and facilitates parent support groups, assist parents in forming community connections aligned with service goals, including referral and linkage with providers of early intervention, mental health, health care, and other supportive services, and develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with key community providers.
Candidate qualifications:
Associate's Degree or higher in Social Work, Child Development or a closely related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
At least one year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
Strong relationship building and collaboration skills.
The ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

The Bilingual Foster Care Specialist is a critical member of the region's child welfare team, working collaboratively within and across programs to ensure a relentless focus on keeping children safe and supporting families, consistent with our agency's Blueprint of Impact, which includes replacing what we currently think of as child welfare services with what we know to be child, family, and community well-being solutions. The Family Counselor is a critical member of the Youth Services team, providing crisis intervention, follow-up crisis stabilization, and short-term counseling and case management services to youth, age 11-23, and their families. The goal of the Youth Services program is to preserve and reunify families, to prevent placement of youth in the state child welfare or juvenile justice system due to runaway or lockout, and to prepare older youth for successful independent living. As a Family Counselor, you will meet with clients and families in their homes and other community-based locations, providing individualized services aimed at strengthening relationships, addressing trauma, and building positive community connections. The Family Counselor also coordinates services with other relevant providers and develop appropriate referral plans, completes thorough and timely documentation, including assessment and service notes, using a web-based client services platform, and provides after-hours support to remote field staff on an on-call rotation.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution with youth and their families as necessary.
Provides individual and family counseling according to program model.
Provides comprehensive case management services to a caseload of clients which includes needs assessment, service planning, case coordination, service brokerage, linkages with community resources, and monitoring progress toward client(s) goals and objectives and makes recommendations for on-going services when necessary.
Establishes trusting, nurturing, therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
Arranges and/or provides services needed to meet the immediate needs of client(s).
Assesses youth and family functioning for safety, risk and protective factors and determines appropriate interventions.
Formulates service plans and goals with client(s), obtains supervisory approval of the plan, and is responsible for the implementation of the plan.
Analyzes and evaluates progress in the service plan and modifies when necessary to meet the needs and goals of the client(s).
Provides psychoeducation, including positive parent-youth interactions, problem-solving, adolescent development and positive parenting.
Candidate qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required OR a Bachelor's degree in a human services field plus at least two years' related experience working with children and families required.
Experience with high-risk youth and their families in crisis preferred.
Counseling experience or training preferred.
Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
Valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle required.
Effective listening and trust-focused relationship-building skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Youth Crisis Workers sign up for at least eight flexible shifts per month based on their personal availability; shifts may include weekends, evening/overnight, or holidays. During on-call shifts, Youth Crisis Workers respond in-person to police departments to provide after-hours crisis intervention services to youth who have run away, been locked out, or are without a safe place to stay. During crisis intervention, Youth Crisis Workers meet with youth and parents to understand both perspectives, facilitate effective communication, and help the family negotiate a safe and appropriate solution, complete initial assessments of safety and protective factors to help inform the crisis intervention process, and may transport youth to temporary placements, using a personal vehicle (mileage expenses reimbursed by agency).
Candidate qualifications:
At least two years of college coursework in Social Work or a related field, OR two years of experience working with youth and families, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. (All candidates must have at least high school diploma/GED.)
Availablility to respond in-person to after-hours crisis calls (within 60-90 minutes depending on location).
Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
Excellent skills at communicating effectively and empathically, even in a high-conflict situation.

Develops a temporary alternate placement arrangement for youth who cannot return home, within program policy and guidelines and when authorized by the Coordinator or Supervisor.
Delivers supportive services to clients including transportation, as required by the program.
Writes case notes and completes intake paperwork, safety screens, crisis stabilization plans and other documentation.
Participates in an on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Works under the direct guidance and supervision of an assigned staff member.
