Join us at Easterseals NY Kessler Center for an exciting career as a Special Education Teacher!* Check out the role overview below If you are confident you have got the right skills and experience, apply today. *$3,000 Sign on bonus for successful candidates upon hire* *Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000/yr* *Position Summary:*Design and implement classroom educational programming including academics, daily living skills, community safety and engagement, social skills, and transitional planning to enable students to make progress towards an LRE or successful independent adult placements *Essential Job Functions* * Design a classroom environment that is both motivating and stimulating for students. * Create and deliver daily, weekly, monthly and other lessons and units aligned with state curriculum standards and meeting minimum requirements for minutes of instruction. * Classroom work should minimally include all academic content areas aligned with the common core curriculum, daily living skills, behavioral support, social skills, community skills and integration, vocational skills, and emotional development. * Provide lessons and units upon request for review. * Provide lessons and units in an accessible format for substitute teachers. * Complete periodic progress monitoring of IEP goals between marking periods to inform quarterly progress notes. * Complete thorough and appropriate non-academic documentation including communication logs, behavioral tracking, Restrictive Intervention Applications, and Notable Event Reports. * Monitor, support, and report to administration on the work, effort, affect, skills, and implementation of treatment and academic programming by the teacher aides and assistants in the classroom. Assist with staff evaluations as requested. * Maintain and report on periodic progress documentation for each pupil and attend CSE, ITT, psychiatric rounding and other treatment meetings on each student at appropriate intervals during the school year. * Complete all required CSE and other paperwork (behavior tracking, RIAs, Notables, Community Contact Forms, parent notification documentation, etc...) in a timely and effective manner. * Implement behavioral support system, as approved by treatment team and consistent with Department of Education Regulations. * Utilize SCIP-R physical interventions on an emergency basis for the protection of staff and students. * Assure that accurate attendance records are maintained and are to be submitted appropriately prior to the completion of each month. * Submit monthly and/or quarterly reports to appropriate parties. * Maintain regular communication with each family and service provider for each student. * Contact each family for each use of an emergency intervention in the timeline consistent with agency policy and part 200 regulations. * Maintain weekly contact with all families to provide updates on academic and other progress and share important accomplishments of the student. * Attend school-specific and Agency-related staff and/or parent meetings as required. * Attend all professional development and staff meetings as required by supervisor. Scope The Paley Center for Media is seeking a Museum Educator to design and lead intergenerational workshops in YouTube content creation, social media literacy and safety, and practical AI tools for parents, adults, and tweens. You'll build inclusive, hands-on learning that demystifies platforms and AI while promoting creativity and safe digital habits Lead hands-on workshops for parents, adults, and tweens (8+) on YouTube production, social media literacy and safety, and practical AI tools-all within an engaging, museum-based learning environment. The standard work week for this position is On-site in NYC Wednesday to Sunday. Responsibilities Design and deliver interactive, intergenerational workshops that build confidence and critical thinking around content creation, online safety, and responsible AI use. Lead YouTube workshops covering storytelling and community guidelines. Build media literacy. Teach platform safety, privacy settings, screen-time boundaries, digital etiquette, and reputation management. Demystify AI. Facilitate accessible sessions on AI concepts, ethics, and hands-on tools (e.g., ChatGPT, DALL·E, Teachable Machine). Design curricula. Create scaffolded, age-appropriate lesson plans and kits for parents and tweens; iterate from feedback and evaluation data.
