May 21, 1939 Bible Presbyterian Church Unaffiliated opens in uptown Charlotte at the old Central High School.
Calvary Church has been active in ministry for the glory of God since 1939.
The first pastor is Edgar Archer Dillard, who serves until 1946.
He works to establish Calvary Christian Day School in 1950, which later becomes Charlotte Christian School.
In 1965, Pastor Chuck Smith began his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa with just 25 people.
1973 Doctor Ross Rhoads becomes pastor at Calvary.
Since its humble beginnings in 1973, CCS has continued to grow, by God’s grace, and impact our community in a variety of wonderful ways.
In 1974, Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) was started in response to a need from the church families who wanted their children to receive a Christian education.
1977 The Calvary Child Development Center is founded.
Established and dedidcated to provide quality and relevant education which is accessible to all with emphasis on Christian living, this school is more than an educational institution. It is a ministry established initially in 1980 from an informal preschool class of thirteen pupils conducted in a one-storey building in Marikina City.
Miles away from Costa Mesa, Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia was born in November, 1981.
In 1986 ground is broken for the project.
In 1987, CCHS was added to further meet the educational, social, and spiritual needs of the children from the CCCM church body.
1995 After 21 years, Doctor Ross Rhoads resigns as senior pastor, shifting his ministry efforts to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, as Franklin Graham becomes chairman.
Just one year later in November 2012, the congregation celebrates the CLC grand opening.
2019 Calvary Church celebrates 80 years in ministry and undergoes a Sanctuary renovation.
