In 1986, Foundation was selected as one of eight community foundations (out of 28 applicants) for the Ford Foundation’s Leadership Program for Community Foundations.
June 26, 1996 - the Reedy suffered a catastrophic setback when a pipeline owned by Colonial Pipeline ruptured near Fork Shoals, releasing over 1 million gallons of diesel fuel into the river, one of the largest inland oil spills in U. S. history.
1996 - Master Beautification and Development Plan for Falls Park established by the City of Greenville and Carolina Foothills Garden Club.
May 2002 - Reedy River Master Plan, a collaboration between Clemson University, the City of Greenville, and Greenville County was developed.
2004 - Falls Park opens (Photo above: construction of a walking bridge in Falls Park.
In recognition of its 50th anniversary in 2006, the Foundation provided major funding for several community initiatives including The Kroc Center, Greenville Women Giving, and Lake Conestee Nature Park.
The Foundation helped provide initial funding for Greenville Early College which began in the summer of 2012 and has been involved in the planning stages for the Reedy River Park.
In 2013, the Community Foundation began funding annual Capacity Building Grants.
