Job Details Mount Vernon, WA Per Diem $41.00 - $50.00 Hourly DayDescription Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for assisting radiologists in performing mammography screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures. Additional responsibilities include providing procedure-related patient care and education, maintaining records and documentation of procedures, and ensuring the safety and comfort of all patients, operators, staff and visitors. This position will require someone who can work effectively independently, as well as part of a team. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms and procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist. Provide proper radiation protection for patient and staff. Complete and sign patient screening forms and appropriately explain procedures to the patient. Obtain necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures. Maintain patient care, comfort and safety during exams. Ensure images and documentation are put into PACS in a timely manner. Communicate with front desk staff any changes that may alter patient schedule flow. Provide optimal customer service and patient care, while utilizing AIDET service principles in all encounters. Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoot problems; call for service and notify appropriate management when necessary. Maintain equipment service manual, delivery schedule and all related statistics. Maintain and clean all equipment in accordance with required decontamination procedures. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all company, department and location specific policies, procedures and mandatory learning requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by radiologist and management. Qualifications Required Education, Training & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a certified radiology technologist program required. Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist certification required. Current ARRT certification. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS required. Minimum 2-year Mammography clinical experience preferred. Recent experience in mammography procedures and biopsies a plus. Recent mammography biopsy assistance experience preferred. Must keep current in radiology CEUs. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Detailed knowledge of current Mammography scanning protocols and procedures. Proficient in: PACS; Microsoft Office Suite applications; Accessing and navigating company intranet for forms, policies and procedures; Accessing and entering data on organization-wide software; And accessing and using internet resources when required in order to perform job duties. Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate findings to reading radiologist and interact in a positive and professional manner with patients and their family members. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, co-workers, patients and their families. Ability to maintain patience and tact when interacting with hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, visitors, etc. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position.

Saturday Rotations 8:00am-5:00pm and On Call Job Summary: This position is accountable to prepare patients and perform routine interventional radiology procedures in accordance with physicians' orders and the procedure manual. The Interventional Technologist produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with appropriate comparison studies and other exam results or pertinent patient information to the Radiologist for timely interpretation. The Interventional Technologist also assists the Radiologist while he/she performs diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in a sterile environment. Additionally, the Interventional Technologist supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment of quality service to our patients and their families, the community, the physicians, and our Associates. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Prepares patients for interventional procedures by confirming physicians' orders, verifying patients' identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories to ensure the appropriateness of examinations/procedures and facilitate timely accurate diagnosis or treatment of the patient. Performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures on all patient age groups and maintains clinical competency as evidenced by completion of an annual Competency Based Orientation Tool for Clinical Associates in Interventional Radiology. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care. Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of interventional services/activities. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program. Maintains a sterile field during interventional procedures, following principles of aseptic technique, and adheres to standard precautions at all times. Disposes of sharps and contaminated supplies/materials in a manner consistent with infection control standards. Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients, personnel, and self including principles of time, distance, and shielding where possible. Effectively interacts with students, consistently providing supervision and instruction. Is supportive of the MWH School of Radiologic Technology and the Interventional Radiology cross-training program. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure their continued availability and non-interruption of services. Reports, records, and files patient and procedural data in order to accurately document department operations and facilitate timely accurate billing for services. Participates in performance improvement activities for the Interventional Section utilizing a FOCUS PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach to improvement. Maintains authority to administer contrast agents and follows established guidelines for the selection/administration of appropriate contrast type, amount, and concentration. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to meet the age specific needs of the patient groups identified below under Qualifications. Qualifications: ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology; preferably CV registered. AHA BLS Provider CPR required Six months' relevant experience required (minimum of three in Interventional Radiology OR successful and documented completion of MWHC/MIF cross-training program) Three years relevant experience preferred. Assists pharmacist in processing physician orders for medications by entering information into various medication management systems in an unverified status; maintains professional work habits by organizing workload, setting priorities, utilizing resources appropriately, completing assignments in a timely manner and adapts well to change. Medication Review is registered with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy, providing remote order entry services for acute care hospitals; we do not have any medication on site. We do not sell, trade or distribute legend, controlled or over the counter medication from this location. Typical Work Duties (not limited to): Files and retrieves various pharmacy records as required and / or requested by the pharmacist Work independently - Responds to questions not requiring a pharmacists' professional judgment Assures any credit and billing tasks are completed in a timely and thorough manner Attends to customers/nonprofessional calls in a courteous and timely manner Serves as liaison between the client and pharmacist Recognizes departures from the norm and discusses with pharmacist Orders medication/aids in inventory maintenance at remote facilities Assists with automated dispensing device inventory verification Performs various and basic computer functions / database management Retrieves specific clerical and other patient information from patient profile as directed by the pharmacist Ensures assigned work areas and equipment are clean and orderly Mining the deficiency queue: Calling facilities and relaying message left on scan to HUC/NS Pharmacists--please leave as much information as possible so that the tech can read the deficiency to the nurse and it can be easily understood. Follow up on call to facility if no response after a reasonable amount of time (~ 2 hours) Inform in-house pharmacists of deficiencies for their facility if they remain in the queue for an extended period of time Technicians will pin a note to the scan with all communications they have with the facility (message, name of contact, time, initials, etc.) Gathering/entering patient data: Call facilities to obtain and enter height, weight, allergies and other non-clinical patient data Transfer call to pharmacist if contact available to provide clinical data (dosing, frequency, interactions, etc.) Transfer call to the pharmacist who marked the order deficient for consistency (if possible) Enter the non-clinical data into the EPD screen and pin the information on the scan. Mining the Clinical Spreadsheet: Each morning the techs will create a dummy scan with the location of "DEMO" and mark it STAT Technicians will check the Clinical Monitoring Spreadsheet for daily lab orders Labs that are to be drawn will be listed along with patient name and ID# and the approximate time the lab is ordered As the results are provided, the pharmacist will cross off the patient name on the scan and enter the results into the spreadsheet Requirements: Ability and Requirements: Ability to understand oral and written directions from registered pharmacists, organize and perform work effectively and accurately, operate computers, word processors, understand medical terminology, conceptualize, and communicate improvement in functioning pharmacy procedures. Personal cell phone use for 2 step authentications, as well as an emergency system failure situation as needed. Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician License, in good standing. Preferred: CPhT Certification 2+ year's pharmacy / hospital experience MUST LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE
