In the late 1990’s cars began to be connected wirelessly to other sources primarily for safety.
The history of connected car technology can be traced back to 1996 when General Motors debuted its connected car tech platform “OnStar” as a dealer-installed device, onboard the Cadillacs.
1997 BMW launched BMW Assist telematics services.
