    What Environmental Health & Safety contributes to Cardinal Health Environmental Health & Safety manages programs to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. This function conducts regular audits, responds to incidents and investigates root causes, and implements trainings and corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence of problems. This function also manages relationships with regulatory and community stakeholders. Environmental Health & Safety develops and implements programs to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. This family investigates accidents and environmental incidents and liaises with engineers, management, and regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. This family provides training on safety protocols, conducts compliance audits, and maintains relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization. Job Summary The EHS Advisor will report to Columbus South EH&S Manager. This position is responsible for developing and implementing EHS solutions in support of Cardinal Health assets in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding NPHS/IDS locations. These solutions are designed to manage, mitigate, and whenever possible, eliminate EHS risks to Cardinal Health employees, facilities, products and the communities in which the company operates. Operations supported include Ohio Valley Distribution Center, Grove City at Home site, National Logistics Center, Groveport, and other Cardinal Health sites within driving distance. Responsibilities Assists with implementation of the global EHS strategy to mitigate risk to people, property, community, information and brand. Partners with operation leaders to develop and execute site-specific annual EHS plans; standardize EHS programs; ensure critical information is communicated; and implement best practices. Provides support and subject matter expertise for events (e.g., regulatory agency inquiries, natural disasters, business continuity, significant incidents, etc.). Leads in the management of operation-specific EHS hazard assessments and the development of risk mitigation plans. Partners with operation leaders to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements Analyzes key EHS to assist operations in the construction and execution of continual improvement plans. Assists leaders in identifying budgetary needs to address risk reduction and compliance assurance. Ensures key performance metrics, including occupational injury/illness and environmental sustainability results are accurately reported and communicated. Develops and maintains facility profiles. Assists with the response to regulatory agency inquiries and reporting obligations. Participates in assessments and audits. Provides technical assistance and guidance in risk-related matters, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, safety, environmental, incident investigation business resiliency and occupational health processes. Assists management teams in the investigation, notification and case management for occupational injury/illnesses. Provides support in the development and implementation of business resiliency plans. Assists operations close out property/casualty recommendations from third parties such as FM Global. Provides EHS leadership during business continuity situations. Educates and coaches management teams on their EHS roles and responsibilities. Helps foster a diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities Partner with project leadership to foster a culture of accountability and compliance, inspiring teams to achieve exceptional HSE outcomes. Ensure local HSE management systems align with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Lead and support a team of HSE professionals, providing strategic guidance, training, and technical expertise. Drive HSE awareness through regular communications such as Safety Alerts, Lessons Learned, and Safety Campaigns. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to address challenges and strengthen the HSE culture. Identify and implement risk reduction initiatives throughout project phases. Support and participate in corporate sustainability efforts, including training, volunteering, and environmental programs. Continuously improve safety and environmental practices through innovation and collaboration. Maintain and update HSE documentation, including plans, procedures, and manuals. Manage work-related injury cases in collaboration with team members and medical professionals. Establish systems to evaluate subcontractor HSE plans and performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures. * Participate with the Environment of Care team to promote and provide safety expertise through the development and presentation of safety training materials. * Design, develop, promote, and conduct safety and environmental training & awareness programs under the supervision of the Vice President of Safety and Chief Finance Officer. * Conduct work area assessments, surveys, inspections, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions. * Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. * Collect, analyze, evaluate, and maintain data essential for effective safety and environmental programs. * Perform or assist with accident investigations as needed. * Maintain awareness of facilities, including mechanical design, the type of services offered at the site, and the geography of the area. * Participate in construction or pre-construction meetings with the V.P. of Safety. * Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position. * Perform all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: * EDUCATION: * Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety, Risk Management, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is desirable, or previous experience in the job-related duties. * LANGUAGE SKILLS: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before staff within the organization. * MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Job Description: As the Director of Safety and Security your scope of responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Leadership * General oversight of the implementation and sustainment of a comprehensive safety and security strategy aligned with organizational goals. * Lead, manage, and mentor the security and safety team. * Advise senior leadership on safety, risk, and emergency preparedness. * Works with the Security Services Supervisor to manage, train, and schedule security personnel as needed for 24/7 coverage to ensure the safety of residents, staff, family members and visitors. Emergency Preparedness * Overall responsibility for maintenance of the CKV Emergency Operations Plan and associated hazard specific annexes, business and organizational continuity of operation's planning (COOP), Disaster Recovery Plan development and on-going planning (DRP), residential and facility evacuation planning, active shooter plan development, and an annual hazard vulnerability assessment. * Responsible for implementing a recurring training program for team members and residents in basic emergency management and on existing and new emergency operations plans and policies. Additional training requirements include basic incident management and incident command. Coordinates training with outside agencies to ensure readiness for a variety of emergency scenarios. * Creates, coordinates, and oversees After Action Reports. Ensures action items are resolved in a timely manner. Reviews outcomes and action plans with Executive Team. * Works with various departments, and vendors to perform periodic Emergency Preparedness assessments, perform policy reviews and updates * Additional responsibilities include the development of Homeland Security and Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) compliant exercises. This includes the development and implementation of both discussion based and operational exercises and conducting after action reporting and follow-up. * Respond to emergencies on the CKV Campus and assume the role of the Incident Commander and Liaison Officer to outside organizations as the situation requires. Security Operations * Develop and maintain security protocols and incident response plans. * Oversee physical security and monitoring systems, including access control, surveillance, alarms, and perimeter protection. Assists facility maintenance team with fire alarm system management. * Coordinates with Security Services Supervisor to manage investigations related to security concerns, workplace violence, theft, and other incidents. * Oversees training of IAHSS certification for security team. * Acts as a liaison with law enforcement and other emergency services and AHJ's in situations which require their services, guidance, and/or intervention. Safety & Risk Management * Leads all activities of the Safety Committee. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and insurance requirements * Works with Facility Maintenance leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, and other applicable health and safety regulations. * Works closely with Risk Manager on safety and security concerns that increase CKV's risk exposure. * Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard mitigation planning. * Oversee the implementation of safety training programs across the organization. * Meets regularly with law enforcement, fire departments, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies to maintain a positive relationship, look for ways to improve interactions, and works to resolve concerns. Compliance & Reporting * Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory compliance and internal reporting. * Prepare reports for senior management on incidents, trends, and improvement initiatives. * Maintains competency records for applicable training and education events. Ensures department team members stay within compliance Budget & Resource Management * Develop and manage departmental budget and allocate resources effectively. * Evaluate and recommend new technologies or systems to enhance safety and security. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, Business Administration, or similar program, with at least 8 years of prior emergency management experience working within a state or local emergency management program, healthcare, higher education, or similar organization's emergency management program is required. * Experience managing or responding to incidents as part of an incident management team. * The preferred candidate will have a minimum of ICS-400 level training, formally trained in the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), and formal training in business and/or organizational continuity. * Must have comprehensive knowledge of all Federal, State and local regulations related to the safety and security of people and operations affecting CCRC. * Must maintain relevant industry certifications and/or the ability to acquire pertinent certifications within 6 months of accepting the position. * Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, WorxsHub, Kronos and other department specific applications. * A valid driver's license is required. * CPR/AED and first aid certification is required or must achieve certification within first 6 months of employment. * Must be available for on-call responsibilities during emergencies or critical incidents. * Must have strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work non-traditional hours as needed.
