Key Responsibilities:
Manages and provides care for the patient requiring neonatal intensive care utilizing collaborative consultation with team members, under the direction and supervision (but not necessarily the direct attendance) of an attending neonatologist.
Receives a distressed neonate in the Delivery Room and initiates appropriate intervention.
Performs a complete newborn physical examination and assessment of gestational age, discriminating between normal and abnormal findings.
Conducts parent interviews and takes family history.
Collaborates with neonatologists concerning pertinent historical events, physical findings, diagnostic and therapeutic measures initiated on all admissions.
Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary and appropriate for the care of the patient.
Reviews and provides general care items involved in neonatal care, such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
Participates in rounds in NICU.

Responsibilities:
Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills within the scope of practice, included, but not limited to answering call bells, intercom system to determine Residents' needs in a timely manner.
Bathes, dresses and grooms (nail care, shaving, etc.) Residents.
Toilets Residents according to schedule and as needed.
Transports Residents or assists Residents to walk. Utilizes wheelchair foot pedals appropriately when transporting and stores them in wheelchair bag or in Resident closet when not in use.
Takes/records in PointClickCare (PCC) Resident's temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates, pulse oxygen, height and weight as directed. Also records showers given to the Resident in PCC.
Administers, reorders, and monitors expiration dates on medication, as needed.
Collects specimens as directed by the nursing staff.
Assists with answering the telephone, arranging appointments and transportation, and gathering needed documentation for Resident appointments.
Changes bed linens, handles soiled linens and incontinent supplies appropriately to maintain infection control standards.
Keeps Resident rooms, common areas and spa rooms neat and clean.
Receives report from exiting shift and gives oncoming shift report.
Identifies and reports promptly any Resident skin care issues, medical or behavioral concerns and/or noted changes in Resident condition to the nurse.
Initiates and participates in Resident Therapeutic Engagement opportunities, including Linked Senior, where appropriate.
Assists with giving guidance to newly hired Nursing Assistants and Resident Care Assistants using proper procedures and protocol.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Care experience is preferred; excellent customer service skills required.

General Summary
Provides constant observation and support to patients who require close monitoring due to medical or behavioral reasons. Presence helps ensure the safety and well-being of these patients while they receive care. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Provides continuous observation of assigned patients to maintain patient safety. Obtains verbal report from the patient's nurse to include information regarding the patient's identified care needs, diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers, as well as any special consideration (NPO, bed alarms, etc.).
2. Maintains a calm composure and a soft tone when communicating with the patient.
3. Verbally redirects the patient from engaging in risky and harmful behaviors.
4. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance through appropriate communication tools.
5. Monitors and attempts to prevent patient from self-harm, falls, eloping, smoking, dislodging IV lines, O2 apparatus, catheters, and /or drains and dressings through calling for assist (call bed, personal alarm) and attempting to redirect with communication.
6. Requests immediate assistance for noted changes in patient condition and/or disruptive behaviors.
7. Initiates C.P.R. procedure as needed to ensure patient care and safety.
8. Maintains infection control practices (standard precautions and isolation precautions).
9. Maintains appearance and order of patient rooms and work areas.
10. Engages the patient in diversional activities such as coloring and games as appropriate.

Education and Experience
