1967

1967: Carroll School opens its doors with 7 students and 3 faculty.

The history of The Carroll School dates back to 1967, a small group of concerned individuals founded a school for children with language-based learning differences, such a dyslexia.

1971

1971 was the first undefeated season for a varsity football team

1971: Bounders program starts under the leadership of Michael “Strats” Stratton.

1973

New band room and wrestling room additions to the original building were opened in 1973

1974

One boy, John Ingersoll, entered the Class of 1974 in his senior year and became the first male graduate of the school.

1975

Start of soccer on the varsity level in 1975

1975: Alice Garside is appointed Director of Carroll’s Teacher Training Program.

1975: Carroll’s drama program launches with You Are a Good Man Charlie Brown.

1979

In 1979, the school's name was changed to The Carroll Street School to reflect its expansion through sixth grade.

1980

The 1980-81 soccer team brought Carroll its first State Championship

1982

Athletes began competition in the Western Ohio League in the fall of 1982

1987

Athletes began competition in the Mid Miami League in the fall of 1987

1991

In 1991-92, they placed fourth out of fifteen finalist guards at the Winter Guard International World Championships.

1991: Carroll raises $1 million in its largest endowment campaign to date.

1992

1992: Carroll hosts its first Special Visitors Day.

1992: Carroll celebrates 25 years of educating children with dyslexia.

1993

1993: Students perform Breaking Through, a play about dyslexia, written by Carroll teachers.

1994

Legacy of Excellence Capital Campaign established in 1994

1995

1995: The Lower School holds its first Step Up Night for 5th graders.

1998

Updating and expansion of computer rooms New walkway and landscaping added to the main entrance Renovation of St John the Evangelist Chapel in 1998 Addition of a new wrestling room, weightlifting facility, and industrial arts room Physical campus and parking improvements

2011

50th anniversary of the first day of classes on September 6, 2011

2012

2012: Carroll Nine program launches, helmed by Kurt Moellering.

2013

2013: Carroll begins 5-year plan to exit the MA Chapter 766 program.

2013: Targeted Cognitive Intervention program starts for students in grades 6-8.

2015

2015: Carroll celebrates the 100th birthday of co-founder, F. Gorham Brigham, Jr.

2016

The upper school campus is a former mansion, and was bought for $5 Million from businessman John Fish in 2016.

2017

2017: Carroll purchases property in Wayland, creating space for the Upper School campus and new athletic fields.

2017: Carroll celebrates 50 years of educating remarkable students.

2017: Osa Osagie is hired as Carroll's Director of Equity and Inclusion.

2018

Foundation for the Future: The Campaign for Carroll High School capital campaign established in 2018

2018: "Carroll Courses" launches to train teachers in Carroll's five core teaching strategies.

2018: Diversity Professional Learning Communities start to provide a space for faculty and staff to have brave conversations about race and social justice.

2020

2020: Carroll successfully raises $32.7 million in its first ever capital campaign, If Not for Carroll.
