Positional Summary

* Transport food or supplies to serving areas; ensure that areas are properly set up; assemble and replenish food, supplies, and equipment as required; ensure proper temperature of food in steam tables and correct counter display; take orders, portion, and serve food to customers; record portions served according to procedure; remove, cover, wrap, label, store, rotate, and discard food and condiments as directed. Clean assigned areas following proper sanitary procedures; sweep, mop floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in assigned areas as needed.
* Clear soiled dishes and refuse from tables in dining halls; scrape refuse into garbage containers; load trays and soiled dishes on conveyers, racks, and carts; remove and dispose of trash.
* Set up and operate dish machine to clean dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils; sort utensils and equipment; inspect cleaned items for quality of operations.
* Maintain sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of duties; unload incoming supplies and equipment; unpack and assist in receiving, issuing, and transporting materials; verify quantity of received goods against invoices and notify supervisor of discrepancies; stock supplies and equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures; assemble supplies and deliver to ordering unit, using hand truck if needed; report needed items for reorder.

Educational Requirements

Food Services Assistant II
Prepares and delivers food trays to patients, processes meal requests, and provides customer service using a point-of-sale system. Assists patients, staff, and customers both in person and over the phone. Manages nourishment orders and deliveries through the hospital's computer system.

Department: 11903 Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Food and Nutrition Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 32 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Nights and Weekends. Pay Range $18.50 - $27.75 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school enrollment, diploma, or GED equivalent. Food service or customer service experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitors quality of product at stations, ensures recipe compliance, and adherence to departmental guidelines.
2. Ensures that productivity, delivery, and serving line start time schedules are met.
3. Minimizes product waste and controls cost. Follows portion control guidelines and manages food and supplies.
4. Oversees that all equipment and supplies are properly utilized, maintained, and handled to avoid breakage. Performs utility and dish room functions efficiently. Properly cleans items for use in department.
5. Contributes to overall positive patient and customer satisfaction striving to meet the highest service and quality standards.
6. Maintains a 97% or better sanitation rating from the Health Department by following sanitation policies and completing daily/weekly cleaning assignments. Maintains a double gold rating from NSF. Ensures that Sodexo standards are consistently being met. Department maintains a minimum average Gold Check score of silver.
7. Follows all workplace safety and sanitation rules and regulations helping to maintain a safe work environment.
8. Completes required in-service training, job specific training, annual Compliance and HIPAA training, and annual TJC/OSHA training.
9. Participates in department's performance improvement initiatives. Works as a team player and ensures that duties are performed accurately and efficiently. Provides support to other Food and Nutrition Services departments as requested by management.
10. Delivers, serves, and retrieves food trays in a safe, efficient, sanitary, as well as courteous manner, following proper protocol. Follows fire code and regulatory standards.
11. Demonstrates responsibility by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff as deemed appropriate. Resolves issues or concerns, provides assistance as deemed necessary.
12. Adheres to the hospital and departmental policies and procedures promoting a cooperative work environment. Demonstrates a personal responsibility and commitment to customer service and satisfaction by utilizing communication skills to interact with patients, customers, and staff to develop interpersonal relationships and team building.
