Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes - with a focused goal of assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.
Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is currently seeking a Security ProgramAssistant, who will provide information, assistance, and security to the program and its guests. The ideal candidate will conduct their work in a welcoming and hospitable manner towards all clients, volunteers, and visitors through their personal actions and assistance. The work schedule is Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 7pm - 7am.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work to maintain a safe and secure environment both inside and outside properties for clients, staff members, volunteers, and visitors.
* Handle specialized tasks which include monitoring the compliance of policies and procedures, reporting incidents, writing violations, and emergency intervention as required
* Assist with the orientation of residents and/or volunteers. Provides guidance and assistance to by being observant and attentive to both positive and negative behavior and reporting activities to supervisor (as needed).
* Willingly works with clients and volunteers, demonstrating the philosophy of Catholic Charities and the program through participation in activities, positive communication, and helpful attitude.
* Maintain logs and files related to various programs, records entries accurately reflecting events as they occurred.
* Ensure residents are aware of their rights and the grievance process.
* Monitor building activity to help ensure safety, security, and compliance with building policies and procedures.
* React to emergency situations appropriately and in a professional manner.

PROGRAM/POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES: Employees working in the following program(s) have additional responsibilities and/or requirements in addition to the others listed. These include, but are not limited to:
WHRC - Security (950000):
* Provides security to the facility by inspecting the persons and property of visitors and clients prior to allowing them entrance to the facility.
* Conduct periodic security checks throughout the building and report unusual activity to supervision.
* Respond to, and assist, in emergency and/or security incidents.
* Conducts room inspections and assesses level of compliance to established policies and procedures.
* Provide general assistance to guests and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, clothing, laundry, restroom, and shower rooms.
* Prior security experience.
* Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* One year of related experience preferably working with the homeless or at-risk populations.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
* Must be certified in CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment.
* ServSafe (ODB, Sarah's House and WHRC - 402000) within six months of employment.

The Chesapeake Bay Trust, a non-profit grantmaking organization, seeks a Restoration ProgramAssistant for our Annapolis, MD, location to primarily support the Restoration team's body of work, including grant review, grant management, grant tracking, and database management. This person will be a key member of a 40+ person staff. This position is a full-time salaried position (40 hours per week). Within the first 6 months, this position will be expected to be in the Trust offices in Annapolis, Maryland at least two days per week, with remote work possible for the remainder of the week. After the 6-month probation period, there will be an opportunity to reassess the number of in-office and remote workdays. This role reports to a Restoration Program Manager.
Established in 1985, the Chesapeake Bay Trust uses grantmaking as a method to promote community-based participation in the restoration and protection of the natural resources of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay region. In the past fifteen years, the Trust has doubled its grant-making five times through new revenue from a wide range of partners, with current annual grant-making of approximately $25 million. The Trust currently allocates these grant funds through 350-400 awards per year to entities who apply through open, competitive calls for proposals as well as programs such as the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps.
Specific Responsibilities:
The person in this position will spend approximately 80% of their time assisting the Restoration team in advancing its mission, and approximately 20% of their time supporting the Trust in other avenues of work. Specific duties include:
Assist in the management of grants that advance the Trust's restoration and stewardship goals, including the steps of proposal review (programmatic and budgetary aspects), project site visits, status and expense report review, award revision requests, and final report/close-out, for a subset of the Trust's award portfolio. Some management activities may require site visits.
Serve as the lead on grantee correspondence for the Restoration team.
Prepare grant reports and meeting preparation material for staff and review committees.
Prepare queries of grant data as needed for a variety of purposes, such as funding partner requests, reports to the Board of Trustees, legislature, the Trust's website, and more.
Provide support to a subset of not-for-profit organizations in the preparation of grant proposals and in the management of grant awards.
Support the Restoration team with grant program advertisement.
Develop and post grant-related website content to celebrate project/program success.
Assist the Restoration team with event logistics (e.g., compiling registration list(s), presentation slides, meeting materials such as an agenda for a team meeting, taking meeting notes), including review committee days and external events such as grantee workshops, press events, and/or symposia.
Support internal and external meeting logistics including hosting meetings on virtual platforms such as Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams.
Assist the Restoration team with special projects, such as grantee newsletters, social media posts, blogs, and/or annual reports.
Serve with the other ProgramAssistant in the Outreach and Restoration program team as a Trust lead of the online grants system and database software with tasks to include development and refinement of grant application forms, reviewer forms, data fields, award and decline letters/notifications, and any updates needed to improve efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

The Lab Accreditation Program Specialist serves as the Senior Agency Official covering the full range of CPSC third party lab accreditation activities as established by 16CFR1112 and related regulations, directives and procedures. He/she is required to use broad based knowledge and expertise in third party laboratory conformity assessment programs, including the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC), the capabilities of Accrediting Bodies throughout the world, and the development and use of related accreditation program standards such as ISO-17025-2017. The incumbent is knowledgeable in the development and changes to such standards and how they apply towards recognizing applicant laboratories for approval as CPSC third party laboratories that can issue conformance reports for products that meet children's products safety standards. The Lab Accreditation Program Specialist is required to use persuasive abilities to motivate the appropriate internal and external organizations to initiate and support the development, maintenance and updating of the CPSC Lab Accreditation IT Systems. The cooperation and respect of the officials in these organizations for the incumbent is a key factor in the Commission's operating and maintaining a high quality, accurate lab accreditation system to ensure manufacturers and others have access to identifying and using qualified labs to certify Childrens Products to ensure CPSC standards are met.
Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for:
* Communicating with persons and organizations in the U.S. and globally that have professional expertise related to laboratory accreditation. This includes accreditation bodies, testing laboratories, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), and experts at the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and other federal agencies. Communications are frequent and varied in scope including discussions with applicant laboratories on their third party certification application status, accrediting bodies in various countries to verify scope and status of specific laboratories, and with Governmental personnel on the development of the related international standards and progress on trade or mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) between countries regarding acceptance of third party lab results between that country's laboratories and the United States.
* Identifying the need for new or revised policies, procedures, directives and/or control systems required by new or ongoing children's product standards and programs. Reviews, monitors and evaluates developments in CPSC, and national and international standards as they may affect the CPSC Lab Accreditation programs policies and procedures.
* Collaborates with the Associate Executive Director (AED) for Laboratory Sciences, the AED-EXHR and other management officials on controversial program issues, considers alternative courses of action, and recommends proper course to be taken. Counseling respective management members including Commissioners and Commissioner Staff of the impact on operations of various options.
* Reviewing and evaluating short- and long-range management plans and programming documents related to program goals. Develops proposals and plans to allocate resources to provide for optimum program effectiveness in order to meet established goals.
* Directing and monitoring the development and implementation of new or revised management policies, procedures, and systems needed to cope with new program requirements and functional changes resulting from new legislation, congressional and/or consumer interests, and new technological developments.
* Reporting to Associate Executive Director - Laboratory Science on all related activities and their progress as well as assesses results against performance goals and other matters related to processing laboratory applications for the CPSC program including preparing quarterly and annual reports on timeliness measures for processing independent third-party lab applications and audit submittals.

The Lab Accreditation Program Specialist serves as the Senior Agency Official covering the full range of CPSC third party lab accreditation activities as established by 16CFR1112 and related regulations, directives and procedures. He/she is required to use broad based knowledge and expertise in third party laboratory conformity assessment programs, including the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC), the capabilities of Accrediting Bodies throughout the world, and the development and use of related accreditation program standards such as ISO-17025-2017. The incumbent is knowledgeable in the development and changes to such standards and how they apply towards recognizing applicant laboratories for approval as CPSC third party laboratories that can issue conformance reports for products that meet children's products safety standards. The Lab Accreditation Program Specialist is required to use persuasive abilities to motivate the appropriate internal and external organizations to initiate and support the development, maintenance and updating of the CPSC Lab Accreditation IT Systems. The cooperation and respect of the officials in these organizations for the incumbent is a key factor in the Commission's operating and maintaining a high quality, accurate lab accreditation system to ensure manufacturers and others have access to identifying and using qualified labs to certify Childrens Products to ensure CPSC standards are met.
Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for:
* Communicating with persons and organizations in the U.S. and globally that have professional expertise related to laboratory accreditation. This includes accreditation bodies, testing laboratories, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), and experts at the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and other federal agencies. Communications are frequent and varied in scope including discussions with applicant laboratories on their third party certification application status, accrediting bodies in various countries to verify scope and status of specific laboratories, and with Governmental personnel on the development of the related international standards and progress on trade or mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) between countries regarding acceptance of third party lab results between that country's laboratories and the United States.
* Identifying the need for new or revised policies, procedures, directives and/or control systems required by new or ongoing children's product standards and programs. Reviews, monitors and evaluates developments in CPSC, and national and international standards as they may affect the CPSC Lab Accreditation programs policies and procedures.
* Collaborates with the Associate Executive Director (AED) for Laboratory Sciences, the AED-EXHR and other management officials on controversial program issues, considers alternative courses of action, and recommends proper course to be taken. Counseling respective management members including Commissioners and Commissioner Staff of the impact on operations of various options.
* Reviewing and evaluating short- and long-range management plans and programming documents related to program goals. Develops proposals and plans to allocate resources to provide for optimum program effectiveness in order to meet established goals.
* Directing and monitoring the development and implementation of new or revised management policies, procedures, and systems needed to cope with new program requirements and functional changes resulting from new legislation, congressional and/or consumer interests, and new technological developments.
* Reporting to Associate Executive Director - Laboratory Science on all related activities and their progress as well as assesses results against performance goals and other matters related to processing laboratory applications for the CPSC program including preparing quarterly and annual reports on timeliness measures for processing independent third-party lab applications and audit submittals.

Qualifications

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
GS-14: 1) Demonstrated experience in managing, monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of a testing laboratory accreditation program involving a number of laboratories; 2) working knowledge and understanding of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC), mutual recognition agreements (MRAs), ISO 17025, ISO 17065, ISO 17011; 3) working knowledge of testing laboratory quality management systems needed to comply with ISO 17025, and accrediting of testing laboratories and accrediting accreditation bodies and their roles in the accreditation process; and 4) working knowledge of laboratory accreditation assessments including some experience participating in such assessments.
GS-15: 1) Demonstrated experience in managing, monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of an extensive testing laboratory accreditation program involving at least over 50 laboratories; 2) expert knowledge and understanding of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC), mutual recognition agreements (MRAs), ISO 17025, ISO 17065, ISO 17011; 3) expert knowledge of testing laboratory quality management systems needed to comply with ISO 17025, and accrediting of accreditation bodies and their roles in the accreditation process; and 4) expert knowledge of laboratory accreditation assessments including experience leading several such assessments.
A bachelor's degree in engineering or a physical science (such as chemistry, biology, etc....) is highly desirable. Completion of formal training courses in ISO-17025 and/or ISO-17011 is highly desirable.

Time Commitments:
Must be available to start training and the position on spring 2026 semester.
Assist with opening and closing of the facilities at the beginning and at the end of each semester and provide office coverage over holidays, semester breaks, exam periods, when buildings are open (including Holidays and Spring Break). Dates will be provided during interview.
Attend and participate in all staff training sessions. This includes, but is not limited to, Spring and Summer, and in-services as requested by the Assistant Director-Resident Life.
Be present to work at least 10 hours each week at the Main Office Desk/Clubhouse Desk.
Academic year hours of CA staffing the desk include (subject to change as needed):
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 9AM-7PM
Wednesday: 9AM-10PM
Friday: 9AM-4PM
Available to assist during special events as needed. During August check-in week, increased hours/coverage is needed.
Provide academic course schedule by established deadlines each semester (must be available to work outside of academic courses).
Monthly Community Assistant meeting to discuss updates and policies.
Assist in Fire Watch Procedures as needed and directed by the Assistant Director- Resident Life.

Qualifications
