**Job Summary and Responsibilities** **Director Periop Services** CUMC - Bergan Mercy is searching for a Director of Perioperative Services. The ideal candidate will be a humble servant leader, who is compassionate and visionary. The role requires an experienced leader with a background in perioperative services management, from a large academic center or a tertiary care center. The candidate has strong analytical skills, which involve overseeing a team of 200 staff members and four departments (Main OR, CV, GI, and Sterile Processing).
The facility boasts 16 ORs (12 general, 4 cardiovascular, 5 GI rooms), a sterile processing unit, 2 hybrid interventional rooms, a neuro-interventional suit, and latest equipment for cardiovascular and neurosurgical/spine procedures, including 4 top-of-the-line robots. CUMC - Bergan Mercy is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center with two EDs serving the lower midwest including West IA and Nebraska. We specialize in open and structural heart procedures, complex vascular, neurosurgical and spine surgery, and cancer. Additional services offer a robust robotic program for thoracic, trauma and emergent general surgeries, urology, gynecology, and colorectal procedures.
As a flagship academic institution, CUMC Bergan Mercy trains fellows, residents and students on a daily basis in all procedural areas. We handle a significant volume of transfers being the primary referral center for all CHI facilities in the lower Midwest. Our long-term goals are service optimization and growth, particularly for complex cardiovascular, thoracic and neurovascular disease processes.
1. Manage performance with the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations; and allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit and department needs and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
2. Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, federal, state and agency laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards.
3. Ensures optimal utilization of department resources through participation in planning capital and operational budgets, in development and implementation of systems and practices that achieve defined objectives, in internal and external benchmarking activities and in monitoring, analysis and resolution of budget and productivity variances.
4. Works collaboratively to develop plans, goals, and implementation strategies in support of CHI Health's Mission, Vision, and nursing, campus, and system business objectives. Maintains a department scope of care based on patient population and identified needs.
5. Develops, coordinates, and manages operating systems, operational standardization, service standards, approaches, communication methods and policies across CHI Health.
6. Maintains a system of management reporting that provides the system with timely and relevant information on all aspects of areas of responsibility.
7. Participates in the development of quality indicators and responds to a full range of financial, service and quality indicators in all areas of responsibility.
8. Maintains a collegial and cooperative relationship with the other Hospital Operations and Service Line Directors, working as a team to search out and implement efficiencies, economies and best practices.
9. Provides high quality perioperative services at reasonable costs by directing the programs, policies and procedures for all areas of responsibility. Develops, monitors, and ensures implementation of evidence based clinical standards of nursing practice.
10. Promotes a culture of customer service focused on patients, families, visitors, physicians, other departments and the community. Establishes and maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships with the CHI Health and Independent Medical Staff. Develops and implements programs and processes to support patient and physician satisfaction.
**Job Requirements**
Required Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred
Current Registered Nurse License in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so license must be held in the state of your residence.
BLS certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

**Job Summary and Responsibilities** **Director Nursing Trauma Departments** **Bonus Incentive - Up to 15%** The Director of Nursing maintains direct operational responsibility for specific departments and programs on an assigned campus: additional direct management and/or consultative responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate to carry out the objectives of the Operations of the specific campus. The incumbent also maintains a matrix management responsibility for all nursing care areas located at his/her assigned hospital regardless of reporting structure and a matrix line to the Division CNO. In addition, the incumbent works collaboratively with medical staff, ancillary services, community leaders and agencies. A key role of this position is to build strong relationships with physicians and employees for CHI Health and to achieve/improve patient experience, and staff engagement.
1. Maintains management responsibility for all nursing care areas located at his/her assigned hospital regardless of reporting structure. Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements ensuring that staff are appropriately licensed/certified and taking corrective action for non-compliance as needed.
2. Develops, maintains, and evaluates patient/resident/client and staff data collection systems and processes to support the practice of nursing and delivery of patient care.
3. Develops, maintains, and evaluates organizational planning systems to facilitate the delivery of nursing care, attainment of outcomes, and execution of strategic plans. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services administration, making necessary adjustments to achieve consistent performance.
4. Reviews cost, quality, safety, utilization, and value data regularly with nursing leaders, clinical leaders, and health system executives; responsible for both the dissemination of this information and the development of interventions needed to improve value.
5. Leads change activities in accordance with CommonSpirit change models.

Executive Service Line Director - Cardiovascular

**Job Summary and Responsibilities** + Develops an annual strategic business plan that supports attainment of a world-class cardiovascular institute; defines and elaborates the strategic goals of the CVSL, identifies opportunities for growth and development; ensures plans functionally align with CHI Health's strategic objectives, budget and available capital and that established plans achieve identified goals for the service line; provides required CVSL performance reports to senior leadership on an annual and periodic basis.
+ Identifies and leads CVSL quality improvement initiatives, including integration of employed and independent physician groups with CVSL protocols and other quality improvement plans.
+ Provides clinical leadership in the development and implementation of the CVSL strategic growth plan and annual budgets (e.g. operating, supply, staffing, capital, etc.) and makes budget-related recommendations to the Cardiovascular Leadership Council (CVLC) or its equivalent.
+ Provides executive-level clinical leadership in the development of "Center of Excellence" programs within the CVSL that are designed to distinguish the service line from other programs in the region and aspire to national best practices.
+ Works (in partnership with Executive Managed Market Director and CHI Health leadership) to build an integrated culture across medical staff, hospitals, departments and clinics to advance access, quality, safety, patient experience, provider satisfaction and to build/strengthen strategic position.

+ Serves as CVLC Chair and co-leader of the Service Line Strategic Leadership Committee (governance committee); participates as an active member of all CVSL subcommittees and other committees as directed by Executive Managed Market Director and senior leadership.
+ In collaboration with the Executive Managed Market Director, identifies regional and national clinical partners to further the clinical expertise, quality and outcomes delivered across the broader geographies serviced by CHI Health; ensures linkage with CommonSpirit Health's national strategies in these areas.
+ Maintains strong partnership with CHI Health leaders to drive accountability for administering clinical quality and delivery of exceptional patient-centric care; participates in evaluating clinic provider performance, productivity, and delivery on established goals and CVSL imperatives; sustains processes to ensure independent providers maintain skills necessary to perform at the quality/patient safety level expected for the entire service line
+ Determines (in collaboration with Executive Division Director and CHI Health leadership) provider resource requirements and recruitment strategy; participates in efforts to hire physicians with unique skills in new program development.
+ Assists CVSL in establishing partnerships with CHI Health Primary Care and independent primary care groups and hospitals to expand CHI Health's primary and secondary service areas for cardiovascular care.
+ Conducts, on a regular basis, chart and case reviews under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (or designee) to evaluate the practice patterns of members where there is a reasonable concern for complying with standards of care.
+ Under the direction of Medical Staff Leadership and in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (or designee), interacts with providers who fail to comply with the provisions of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and other related documents and manuals including adherence by department physicians to on-call responsibilities.
+ Assists in the design, implementation, maintenance and coordination of comprehensive credentialing, quality assurance, risk management and utilization review programs and initiates the development of performance improvement/clinical effectiveness projects to

**Job Requirements**
+ Medical Degree
+ Board Certification in Cardiology, Vascular Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery (with ten years of specialty practice experience preferred),
+ A current, unrestricted license, to practice medicine in the state of Washington and collaborative work experience in a large, matrixed and complex health system.
+ Must be able to be contracted and credentialed by third party payers including all state and federal programs.
+ Five years of senior medical group management and/or management/leadership experience is preferred.
+ Service line integration and program building experience
+ MBA/MHA preferred
**Where You'll Work**
This job is accountable for the strategic development, management and related clinical operations/services of the Cardiovascular Service Line (CVSL) across CHI Health in the NE/IA managed market. An incumbent performs these functions with an administrative dyad partner (Executive Managed Market Director) and will report directly to the System Senior Vice - President (SSVP PE) of the NE/IA Physician Enterprise(PE), with matrixed reporting relationship to the President of the CHI Health NE/IA managed market and the managed market strategy leader. Work also includes leading and representing the CVSL at the CommonSpirit Health national level.
The purpose of the service line is to create and maintain seamless integration of services across CHI Health facilities ensuring that patients have easy access to patient-centered, high quality and safe care. By design, this includes integration between acute medical centers and hospitals, employed providers and clinics, and independent provider groups.
Clinical time allocation: Incumbent will work a maximum 0.6 FTE as a clinician and subject to an active provider contract.
Accountable for division-wide aspects of CVSL physician development and management of patient-centered quality initiatives with CVSL Executive Managed Market Director; and, in conjunction with the SSVP of the PE, and Managed Market strategy leader, is responsible for the strategic growth and development of the CVSL congruent with the CHI Health vision to operate a high performing, high value system of care, including employed and independent providers.
