Central Virginia Electric Cooperative company history timeline

1937

The directors of the new cooperative held their first board meeting an October 28, 1937, where they adopted the first Bylaws and authorized the signing of a contract to buy power from the Virginia Farm Power Board, Inc.

From its modest beginning in 1937, Central Virginia Electric Cooperative has become one of the major businesses in rural Central Virginia, serving nearly 35,000 members on almost 4,600 miles of line.

1970

Beginning in 1970, the population of Fredericksburg and its surrounding counties increased 120 percent, a growth rate four times that of Virginia as a whole.

1972

He has been a resident of the Fredericksburg area since 1972.

1993

Moving to Fredericksburg in 1993, she volunteered and taught Spanish in the public schools for many years, and as PTA President, led the effort to build and raise funds for a new playground.

2007

Tom has served on the CVBT Board of Directors and in the capacity of CVBT Communications Director since 2007.

2014

He practiced law in Fredericksburg and the vicinity for 44 years retiring in 2014.
