CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity available for a Safety Companion. In this role, the Safety Companion provides supportive nursing assistance to licensed professionals by performing assigned duties and services essential to delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with The Joint Commission and CentraState Healthcare System policies and procedures. Care is delivered using a patient-focused, multidisciplinary model that emphasizes collaboration and safety. All new hires attend system-wide orientation and nursing orientation. Orientation and annual renewals also include non-violent crisis intervention training to ensure a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patient's individual need to ensure patient satisfaction.
Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for. Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the patients cared for.
Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
Follows Standard Precautions.
Provides a safe environment for the patient under the direction of a registered nurse.
Remains with patient(s) at all times as directed by the RN when assigned the task of bedside sitter or 1:1 observation.
Identifies self to patient and/or family members or significant others.
Reports behavior changes and patient requests to patient care provider. Does not leave patient unattended, even while reporting observations when assigned the task of bedside sitter or 1:1 observation.
Calls for assistance from Nursing staff if needed. May initiate a Code Gray if warranted. Never leaves patient unattended during a safety concern.
May be called upon to assist Nursing staff in the restraining of patient (if needed).
Maintain patient rooms in neat, orderly manner.
Identifies risk management concerns and communicates findings to the appropriate individual(s) as related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care (as needed).
Demonstrates initiative in the work environment (self-starter).
Correctly performs all scheduled and assigned tasks while continually observing patient needs.
Provides basic nursing care, including partial and/or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients (i.e.: feeding, diversional activity, assisting nursing staff with changing and bathing) and assists patients with activities of daily living.
Assists with patient meal services.
Participates in preparation and intervention of diagnostic or therapeutic patient care with practitioner.
Reports and documents status of patient condition and patient care outcomes to RN.
Notifies nurse immediately for patient's complaints of pain/discomfort and any observed change in condition. Provides appropriate interventions for pain as directed by nurse and reports outcomes.

Verbalizes/performs understanding of 1:1 precautions and documents appropriately.
Conducts rounding on patients in accordance with hospital policy/protocol and documents appropriately.

Documents necessary telesitter information in Excel spreadsheet as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Related experience preferred.
CPR Certification required.
Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required. New hires must receive certification within 3 months of hire. Renewal certifications will be completed every 2 years.
Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Hours: 3:30p-7:30p, every other weekend required.
Responsibilities
Keeps work area and equipment clean and sanitary at all times.
Sets up assigned area and maintains adequate supplies during shift.
Presents and garnishes food in an attractive manner.
Prepares food and beverages for all meals as assigned including catered events.

Short Description
Responsible for registration functions (such as registration, insurance verification, patient safety and compliance, revenue collections, resource referrals, and customer service) in a fast paced, high volume Emergency Department that provides 24/7 service.
Experience Required
2 years registration experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility, Hospital Emergency Department or high volume outpatient medical office preferred.
Knowledge of medical insurance products and benefits, state and federal medical assistance programs, authorization and referral requirements, and collection of copays. Medical terminology knowledge also preferred.
Proficiency in Flowcast scheduling, registration and visit management, and EPIC ED application a plus.
Education Requirements

Short Description
* Some of the primary duties that GI technicians perform include:
* GI Technicians prepare rooms and equipment before endoscopic procedures and clean up and sterilize after procedures
* Maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies for endoscopic procedure
* Ensuring equipment functions properly
* Preparing waiting and recovery rooms or procedure suites
* Maintaining endoscopic equipment, including cleaning, disinfecting and calibrating instruments according to manufacturer guidelines
* Transporting patients according to medical personnel instructions- Helping physicians and nurses perform endoscopic procedures
* Attending training as necessary to enhance or refresh skills
* Collecting specimens from patients
* Collaborating effectively with other care providers regarding procedures and patients' conditions
* Staying current on endoscopy developments by reading literature, speaking with colleagues or participating in professional organizations

Overview
The Mt. Laurel and Willingboro locations are only outpatient units, whereas the Special Test Unit (STU), located on the sixth floor in the main hospital, is an outpatient and inpatient unit. All are run by the hospital largely to serve the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division.
The most common gastroenterology procedures are upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. We also specialize in more interventional procedures such as ERCP and EUS.
All units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures. Nurses rotate between the admission (Pre op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU), and Pre-Admission (PAT)
Experience Required
GI tech experience and/or patient care experience (medical assistant, patient care technician, etc.)
Must have ability to learn IDX and EPIC applications
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
License/Certification Requirements
BLS, GI certification preferred, not required.
Special Requirements
Hours: Varies, anywhere from 6:30 am -7 pm.
Location: Can be floated to Mount Laurel, Willingboro, Camden, Vorhees Surgical Center

The EEG Technician performs routine awake and asleep EEG's, portable EEG's, and long-term monitoring with and without video EEG-examination on both in-patients and out-patients.
Responsibilities:
Test set up utilizing the international 10-20 electrode placement system to include manual measurement, skin prep and electrode application.
Use activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep.
Provide proper knowledge of montage selection based on patient condition.
Provide critical thinking and skill to recognize and correct artifact accordingly.
Successfully trouble-shoot equipment and leads appropriately. Collect information pertinent to the interpretation of the test.
At the completion of all studies, properly remove electrodes, clean patient/equipment, and process documents.
Monitor and document a patient's condition and respond to, and report any adverse reaction.
