1965

On July 30, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the bill that led to the Medicare and Medicaid.

1972

For example, in 1972, Medicare was expanded to cover the disabled, people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring dialysis or kidney transplant, and people 65 or older that select Medicare coverage.

1980

In 1980, Rusty transferred to the West Coast to assume the role of Sales Manager for Hancock’s Newport Beach, California, office.

1996

CaliforniaChoice®, a groundbreaking enterprise empowering small business employees to select from multiple health plans within one program, was launched in 1996.

1997

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was created in 1997 to give health insurance and preventive care to nearly 11 million, or 1 in 7, uninsured American children.

1998

Steve Huynh joined CHOICE Administrators in 1998 after serving in the United States Marine Corps where he earned designations in team collaboration and practical leadership.

2003

Michael joined The Word & Brown Companies in 2003.

The Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA) made the biggest changes to the Medicare in the program in 38 years.

2006

The MMA also expanded Medicare to include an optional prescription drug benefit, “Part D,” which went into effect in 2006.

2010

The 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) brought the Health Insurance Marketplace, a single place where consumers can apply for and enroll in private health insurance plans.

2012

The facility would go on to officially open its doors to the Grand Forks community in 2012.

Before joining CHOICE Administrators in 2012, Michael owned an employee benefits consulting, spent six years as Vice President of Sales in the small business division of UnitedHealthcare, and worked for a third-party benefits administrator.

2013

Initially started in 2013 with humble beginnings in Fargo, our hospice fundraising efforts now involve hundreds of volunteers, dozens of organizations, and thousands of community members across the state.

Tamra began her professional career at CHOICE Administrators and has experience in an array of disciplines including Underwriting, Client Services, and Customer Service, being named to her current role in 2013.

2014

Michael was also President of CONEXIS, a leading benefits administration company, before its acquisition by WageWorks in 2014.

2016

Choice Bank began a partnership with BIO Girls in 2016.

2017

Prior to joining CHOICE Administrators in July 2017, Adam held a similar role for nearly four years at The Word & Brown Companies, where he designed and implemented the organization's corporate-wide Enterprise Project Management Office for multiple insurance-related business units.

Michael was President of Quotit Corp and HealthCompare, two national health insurance distribution platforms, before their acquisition by National General Holdings Corp. in early 2017.

2018

The directive and funding for the forthcoming proposal will likely be included in the administration’s fiscal 2018 budget, officially out tomorrow – though much of it has been leaked and reported already.

2019

Choice Bank was named 2019 Corporation of the Year by Metropolitan Economic Development Association, a nonprofit organization that helps minority entrepreneurs find success in and around the Twin Cities area.

2020

Choice launched the Taking Care of Business Educational Series in 2020, which provides free educational opportunities pertinent to small businesses.

2021

In 2021, Choice expanded the Taking Care of Business series to also include a monthly newsletter.
