ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
* Conducts pre-operation inspections of equipment, identifies equipment problems and reports problems to supervisor for repairs.
* Performs basic maintenance on equipment and tools including washing, changing oil, and greasing.
* May assist in performing unskilled or semi-skilled labor such as installing fences, directing traffic, trimming trees, shrubs, and all other duties as needed to maintain the City.
* May assist in training new employees and in assigning, checking, and approving work of laborers and other equipmentoperators.
* Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
* Must follow all rules of telephone and/or hand held radio courtesy in all communications.
* Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.

Performs a wide variety of activities in support of asphalt maintenance, which includes: Inspecting and repairing inlet boxes, storm pipes, flumes, head walls, culverts, and bar ditches; blading and grading alleys; pressure washing and painting screening walls; installing and repairing guardrails and dome posts; inspecting and maintaining bridges and railroad crossings for structural integrity; and performing any other assigned duties.
