Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. They provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as acquire all imaging and post processing of images.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 5:30PM plus call.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
* Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
* Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
* Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
* Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
* Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
* Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
* Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing
* Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
* Basic Life Support certification
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
* Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)
* Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
* Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams
