College of the Ouachitas company history timeline

1988

In 1988 Ouachita Hills Academy was started, but still no college.

1995

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home was established on July 1, 1995.

1998

She received an MBA from Arkansas State University in 1998.

“An institution such as Ouachita is a living entity, created afresh by each generation,” reflected Doctor Elrod, who has served since 1998 as university chancellor. “It is exciting to view a new Ouachita being built on the foundation of the past.”

2001

2003

The Fran Coulter Honors Program was developed following the approval by the ASU System Board of Trustees at their December 2003 meeting.

2009

A topping out ceremony was held for the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on April 3, 2009.

2011

President Horne facilitated Ouachita’s yearlong 125th anniversary celebration in 2011, including launching the university’s 125th anniversary “Defining the Difference” capital campaign.

2012

Chancellor Ed Coulter announced his intention to retire on June 30, 2012.

2013

Doctor Patricia Bailey, Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs, announced that she would take early retirement from ASUMH on June 30, 2013.

2014

In August of 2014, ASUMH celebrated the unveiling and adoption of the college's new logo.

2015

In September of 2015, ASUMH kicked off its 5th anniversary performing arts season.
